At EDL, we understand that to create beautiful spaces, you need beautiful materials – raw materials that translate your ideas into grand results, and that elevate every space into a living, breathing work of art. Good design is imperative for creating memorable spaces and we are actively looking to go further in our journey of producing quality laminates. In our introspection, we paused to recollect our thoughts and asked ourselves: what would truly inspire you?

We bring you through the story behind our brand: what goes into our R&D, our creative processes and goals, that ultimately culminate in a comprehensive range of beautiful laminates. It’s an exquisite marriage of science and intuition, one that we feed continuously with inspiration and creativity.

What are High Pressure Laminates?High Pressure Laminates are decorative surfacing materials used for interior decoration purposes.

We bring you one step closer to the nature you seek with our R-Series. The tactile grooves and ridges, the asymmetrical forms and textures, the patterned grains – all the details evoke the natural splendour of wood.

KRAFT PAPERThe Foundation

Making up the bulk of a laminate, multiple sheets of brown paper are layered together.

Our high-quality kraft are sourced from the United States and Europe. They have a higher absorption of resin, which results in better panel stability.

UNDERLAYThe Booster

A barrier to prevent the darker tints of kraft paper from altering the colour of the décor paper. This white paper is added to all light-coloured designs to enhance the richness of the décor layer.

RESINThe Difference

The defining factor that differentiates a good laminate from the bad. Superior resin technology is a crucial component that determines the resilience of laminates.

Our resin is perfected over the years through R&D and according to the most stringent of standards.

STEEL PLATEThe Finishing Touch

Steel plates are pressed onto the surface of laminates to give them their finish. A good laminate design stems from the selection of décor paper, but a great one considers the perfect marriage of a décor paper to its matching plate.

We are constantly experimenting to develop matching plates and paper, in search of the best union.

The EDL story is one about ideas – great, insightful ideas that shaped the company and its vision to what it is today. We seek to challenge the norm, break the rules and excite the market. We look to introduce breakthrough technology such as Melavaio and PianoGlossTM to rejuvenate the market, striving to bring the industry to greater heights.

We saw a gap in the market and positioned ourselves at the forefront of research and development to produce design-centric, quality-driven laminates. Partnering with the world’s leading laminate manufacturers from Italy, Japan, Taiwan and Korea, we responded to trends and adopted the latest technology to stay ahead of the curve. Optimising our processes, we bridged the gap to offer modern choices synonymous with your needs.

Today, our laminates have been inspiring spaces in Southeast Asia,and also internationally, across projects in Mauritius, South Africa andthe United States. To maintain an outstanding repute, we unfailinglycomply with international quality certifications. These include the NEMA Standard (US), EN 438 (Europe), ISO 4586 (International) and JIS K6902 (Japan) standards. Sustainability is also a key tenet in our belief, and we adhere to the Green Label (Singapore) certification forenvironmentally friendly products.

The EDL philosophy is inherently one about a persistent drive for excellence and avid innovation. With this passion, we will continue to climb higher and faster.

Product ranges are appraised by different institutions, and hence conform to standards based on their respective countries of origin. Some standards may be applicable for specific ranges and should not be taken to be valid throughout the entire collection.

01 INTRODUCTION

It’s the dawn of a new paradigm for us at EDL. Welcoming change and heralding a new age of revolutionary innovation, we’ve embraced simplicity – given ourselves a blank slate, if you will. Fresh ideas, enthralling prospects and compelling, limitless opportunities – the game has changed.

02 NEW LOGO INTRODUCTION

Our new logo embodies our current state of mind, one that is de-cluttering and reinventing. Reflecting our mantra that ‘less is more’, the three bold strokes are inspired by the visual metaphors found everywhere in nature, crisp in shape yet versatile in structure.

Like basic building blocks, our logo is an amenable tool that can take on multiple personalities, integrating effortlessly into every story. With it, anything is possible.

Our seal is an extension of our evolution. In simplified Chinese, this character represents the forest – a hark back at our DNA. An artisanal touch, this sign-off seal celebrates the intricate work our craftsmen do.

03 BRAND APPLICATIONS

The EDL logotype should be subtly placed on applications. Interesting finishings such as embroidery, hot foil stamping, embossing are preferred. The seal should be used as an accent, and not as a main design element.

04 SECONDARY GRAPHICS A library of secondary graphics in varying colours and styles have been designed for EDL to communicate the versatility of the brand. These graphics were inspired by the colour palettes, graphics, architecture, textures and materials used in bringing interiors to life. Very much a dynamic, living brand, new graphics will continually be added to the mix.
