GETTING RID OF LARGE ITEMS
Fly tipping is spoiling our beautiful borough, but together we can tackle it and keep Barnsley clean and tidy. We’re encouraging everyone to dispose of their unwanted items and rubbish responsibly. If you’re using someone else to remove your waste, make sure you fulfil your householder duty of care. This means you should ALWAYS ask to see their waste carrier’s licence, and get a receipt for the waste they’re taking from you, or you could be prosecuted and fined if they’re not acting responsibly. WORKING TOGETHER TOPROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT
NO SIMMonday, Sept. 18
100 %
Most of your household waste can be recycled.
We’re already good at recycling here in Barnsley and we’d like to say thank you to everyone who sorts through their waste and used their bins correctly each week. With your support we could recycle even more, helping to protect our environment for future generations.
Join your neighbours and do your bit to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill.
To help you, here’s a useful guide about what can be recycled in your coloured bins:
You’ll need to sort your waste into the following types before you go to the recycling centre so that it’s ready to place in the right skip:
• Paper (newspapers, magazines, mixed paper, white envelopes) Cardboard (remove any plastic windows, cellotape and labels)• Cereal boxes / Cardboard packaging
BLUE BIN
• Small twigs and branches
• Leaves and grass
• Cut flowers
GREEN BIN
BROWN BIN• Food and drink cans• Glass bottles and jars• Plastic bottles• Foil trays
All bins should be put out at the kerbside before 6am on your collection day. We accept extra plastic, paper and card if your brown or blue bin is full – just bag it up and leave it on the curb side next to your bin. Glass should always go in your brown bin. Please avoid contamination; anything not listed above should go in your grey (general waste and recycling) bin. Thank you for helping us to recycle in Barnsley.
