Using Evernote for student assignments

Scenario #1: Students do not have their own Evernote account

1. Open Evernote and create a new notebook

2. Label the notebook Assignments (or whatever name you prefer!)

Share the notebook by clicking the share arrow.

Create a public link. Send this link to students. They will be able to view anything you add to the notebook in their web browser without the need for an Evernote account.

What might you add to this notebook? Resources, assignment directions, rubrics, practice activities, lesson notes etc.

3. Create a second notebook called Assignment Submissions

This is the notebook you will use to store and mark student assignments. This notebook is private and will not be shared through the sharing tool.

4. Locate your unique Evernote email address

Tap your user name, select account information, you’ll find your Evernote e-mail account listed near the bottom of this screen.

Provide this email address to students.

To have students send assignments to a specific notebook, tell students to add the following to the end of subject line @notebookname

Ex: Assignment 1 Subject: Assignment 1, student name @Assignment Submissions

This is a big timesaver as emailed assignments go straight into the Assignment Submissions notebook!

Here is an example from my own Evernote. Notice that Evernote notifies me when a student has added notes they submitted by email.
