FROM THE QUEENSLAND PRESIDENT’S DESKAs NAWIC Queensland President, on behalf of our many passionate volunteers, it is my pleasure to introduce the 2019 NAWIC Awards for Excellence.

The last twelve months has been a time of positivity in our chapter – the passionate work of our diverse and talented committee members has delivered great accomplishments in our Education and Mentoring programs, Executive series, Scholarship offers, Women on Tools 11% Strategy and many successful sold-out events for our members, sponsors and their networks.

We continue to drive awareness - at all levels - of construction as a career for all, with the valued support from government and our association partners.

In maintaining a seat alongside the industry’s top associations and unions on the Ministerial Construction Council and it’s sub-committee Building Contract Management team, NAWIC has the opportunity to continue to drive its agenda. What is promising is that Queensland and the industry are ready for female participation and we are right alongside them to support their journey.

NAWIC’s work is holistic – we influence policy, support and unite women already working in construction, we enable development opportunities to create strong leaders, upskill, and mentor.

Our annual Awards are an opportunity for our members to shine, and also our major fundraiser for the year which funds our initiatives. Share our passion, share our journey, nominate yourself or a co-worker today and we look forward to celebrating the women of our industry and the men and companies who support them with you on 11th October 2019.

MESSAGE FROM THE EVENT SPONSOR – HUTCHINSON BUILDERS

Hutchies has supported NAWIC for 18 years, and is the 2019 NAWIC Qld Awards for EventExcellence Partner for the fifth year in a row.

We will keep supporting NAWIC in this way, for as long as we can.

The message behind our support is simple. We’re committed to women in this industry. We don’t know anyone who wouldn’t support this as it makes our industry better. I’ve seen the positive impact this has had over time, since starting with Hutchies in 1986.

These awards are here to encourage women to keep going and keep supporting each other. We need you here.
