EVENT GUIDE
I am delighted to welcome you to the 2014 Sydney Running Festival.
Now in its 14th year, the event welcomes participants from across Australia and the world with a scenic course traversing some of Sydney’s most iconic and spectacular landmarks, including the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
This wonderful community event truly is a running festival for everyone, with elite athletes, social walkers and runners, and families invited to participate in one of four races.
The NSW Government, through our tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, is proud to be a strategic partner of the Sydney Running Festival.
The Festival’s signature race, the Sydney Marathon, is renowned as a major international running event. This year, it will be broadcast live-to-air for the fi rst time in Japan, showcasingSydney and NSW to television viewers.
Crossing the fi nish line will be a special moment for all participants and, for many, will also be the pinnacle of their fundraising efforts.
In 2013, the Sydney Running Festival raised $1.8 million for charitable organisations, which was certainly a magnifi cent achievement.
On behalf of the NSW Government, I extend a warm welcome to our regional, interstate, and international visitors. Spring is a magical time to visit Sydney, and I hope you will fi nd time during your stay to experience the stunning sights and attractions on offer.
I would like to wish everyone participating in the race the verybest of luck, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Congratulations on signing up to be part of the wonderful Blackmores Sydney Running Festival for 2014! Whether you are a seasoned marathon runner or entering your very fi rst fun run, we hope you will enjoy every minute of this fantastic event.
With close to 35,000 participants expected and four spectacular courses to enjoy, Blackmores is proudto be part of this event which celebrates being active and healthy in the great outdoors.
One of my favourite parts of the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is the once-a-year chance to walk or run across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, traffi c free! There is no other view of this beautiful city quite like it!
If you are in pursuit of a ‘PB’ this year and pushing yourself just that little bit more, we hope the spectacular views of the harbour and the lush surrounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Centennial Park help make the challenge a little more pleasant.
And for those who are new to the fun run scene, congratulate yourself for trying something differentand taking another great step towards improved health and fi tness.
At Blackmores, we know small changes every day can help make a big difference to your wellbeing and lead you towards a healthier, happier life.
Something particularly close to our heart at Blackmores is the Festival’s ‘Run for a Cause’ movement. Since the event started, it has raised more than $12 million for charities around Australia. This is about each of us doing our little bit to help – after all, 35,000 small donations certainly do add up!
On that note, it is worth recognising our offi cial charity partners – Shake It Up Australian Foundationfor Parkinson’s Research, and Cerebral Palsy Alliance. I would also like to pass on our special thanks toour new Head Coach for 2014, Michelle Bridges, who is helping us inspire you to move a little more. Michelle is running the Half Marathon and fundraising for the Black Dog Institute.
So whether you are entering the Family Fun Run, the Bridge Run, the Half Marathon or the Full Marathon, I would like to wish you all the best of luck on Sunday 21st September. I hope the experience is an enjoyable one and you embrace the fun and festivities on the day.
If you would like to continue on your fi tness journey after the event, visit www.blackmores.com.auand join our Fitness and Energy community for informative articles and discussions about performance, motivation and staying healthy while training. Or you can simply chat to a Blackmores naturopath forfree natural health advice on 1800 803 760.
Wishing you the best of health,
Christine Holgate, Blackmores CEO.

The integrated ticket does not include Light Rail or private bus and ferry services. An additional station access fee may apply for entrants travelling on regular Sydney Trains services to and from Airport (Domestic and International).
