Useful Information Disabled facilites: Disabled car parking can be found in the main car park. There is a wheelchair lift next to the steps outside the main reception. A member of Hampden Park Stadium will be needed to operate this lift. Please call our venue contact Jill Nicholson on 0141 620 4136 on arrival should you need to use this facility. Inside the stadium there are lifts to access all levels and wheelchair accessible toilets are available near the Nevis suite. First Aid: Any medical emergency must be reported immediately to the Organiser’s Desk. It is most important that the exact location of the casualty is given. Refreshments: There is a catering point located within the Nevis Suite where refreshments will be available to purchase.

Transport Travel by Car: Distance from both the M8 and M74 is approximately three miles. The stadium is sign posted Hampden Park. Access Hampden Park from Aikenhead Road, this entrance leads you straight into the car park. Car parking is located in front of the main reception area and is complimentary for all guests at the stadium. By Train: The stadium is a 5 minute walk from Mount Florida Station & Kings Park Station. Trains to both stations run from Glasgow Central. This seminar will look at the new National Care Standards and how they can help support high quality care provision. The new National Care Standards are being developed at present and the principles will apply across all social care and health provisions. At the same time, the Care Inspectorate is developing new approaches to inspecting and supporting improvement in care services. Attendees will explore how the care standards can be embedded in different settings and help inform new approaches to inspection of regulated services. Rami Okasha is the co-chair of the NCS Development Group and leads the introduction of new inspection methodologies for the Care Inspectorate.

Distressed behaviour is often seen as an unavoidable part of the dementia journey. However, for people with dementia, behaviour is primarily a means of communication. When distressed behaviour becomes viewed as a normal part of dementia, then the needs that are being communicated often go unexplored and ultimately unmet. This seminar looks at how we begin to understand distressed behaviour, which brings us to a better understanding of and ability to respond to the needs of the individual.

During this workshop Oomph! will explain the benefits of an activity based culture and how to create a unique, person centred activity programme.
