BOYLE, ELEANOR ‘BUNNY’

Eleanor, the daughter of the late Norman and Myrtice Boyle of Meaford, passed away with her family by her side at the Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood on Wednesday, April 11 2018 at the age of 77.

Eleanor was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Daigle and brother Vincent Boyle both of Meaford.

She will be sadly missed as a loving mother by Chuck (Cindy) Murray of Owen Sound, Rob (Lillian) Murray, Leanne (Rod) Harvey, and Trevor (Jenn) Harvey all of Meaford and by her 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Eleanor was the sister of Ivan (Mary) Boyle and Robert Glen Boyle both of Meaford. She is also remembered by her special friend Harvey Fulford.

Bunny’s family extends a special thanks to staff and volunteers at the Campbell House Hospice and dialysis department of Collingwood G & M Hospital for their kind and tender care. Cremation has taken place and as per Eleanor’s request there will be no public funeral. A private family service of committal and interment of her ashes will take place at a later date.

McTAGGART, PATRICIA ROSE ANNE

Pat, a resident of Meaford born in Toronto on April 13, 1942, the daughter of the late Thomas and Doris (nee Clark) Scott, Pat passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018 at the age of 75.

She is remembered as the mother and grandmother of son John McTaggart (Lynn) of Mississauga and children Scott (Anna) of Mississauga and Jason (Quinn) of Guelph; son Keven McTaggart (Lucie) of British Columbia and son Nathan; and son Glen McTaggart (Trish) and children Christopher (Jessica) and Alex (Simone) all of Mississauga.

She was a sister to Tom Scott (Helen) of Meaford and will be recalled by her nieces and nephews and families.

Cremation has taken place and a family memorial service and committal and disposition of her ashes will take place at a later date.

RAPP, KENNETH JOHN

Kenn Rapp, born in Hanover on December 31, 1933, a son of the late Wilfred and Lorraine (nee Procknow) Rapp, passed away at the Markdale Hospital on Monday April 9, 2018 at the age of 84.

Kenn was predeceased by his wife, the former Myrtle Boyes of Meaford, and he is lovingly remembered by his partner Dorothy Doran of Meaford.

He was the father of John (Marilla) Rapp of Oakville and Cameron (Katherine) Rapp and grandfather to their children Logan and Courtney.

Kenn was a brother to Ron (Marg) Rapp of Mount Forest, Dorene (George) Holunga of Vineland, Linda (Jim) Rumble of Southampton, and Sharon

(Phil) Zamplino of Ayton and their families.

He was predeceased by an infant sister Esther and by brothers Lorne and Lloyd and is remembered by Lloyd’s wife Jenny of Hamilton and sisters Margaret (late Neil) Edwards of Brantford and Mary (late Dewart) Maclean of Campbellford.

Many will recall ‘Ginger’ as his canine companion.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service of committal and disposition of his cremated remains will take place at a later date.

SIMS, OLIVE

Olive Sims of Meaford passed away peacefully at Summit Place Nursing Home in Owen Sound on Sunday, April 8, 2018 in her 98th year.

Born on July 22, 1920, she was a daughter of the late James and Olive (nee Jones) Maher.

Olive was predeceased by her beloved husband Tom Sims in 1987.

She was the adored mother of Lin Sims of Burk’s Falls, Pat Sims of Meaford, and Libby Sims also of Meaford.

Olive is survived by her brother

Barnard Maher of Winnipeg and was predeceased by her brother Ed Maher and sister Iris Shakell. She will be remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews and their families.

Born in Meaford on October 10, 1945, a daughter of the late Howard and Wilda (nee Gekill) Sampson, Wilma passed away in the presence of her loving family in Meaford on Thursday April 5, 2018 at the age of 72.

Wilma will be remembered by her beloved husband of 51 years, Wayne Boyd of Blantyre and as a devoted mother and grandmother to Angi Scarrow and her husband Rodney of Mulmur and their children Travis and Jesse, Lori Boyd of Toronto, and Jason Boyd, also of Blantyre.

She was a dear sister to Carl Sampson and his wife Sylvia of Meaford and sister-in-law to Marilyn Rutherford (Bev) of Collingwood, Donna Norton (late Allan) of Rosseau, Betty Muxlow (late Cecil) of Rocklyn and Allan Boyd and his

wife Betty of Blantyre. Wilma was a special aunt to their families.

Barb Lougheed of Meaford passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Meaford Hospital on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the age of 82.

Born on December 30, 1935, Barb was a daughter of the late Harry Howey and Isabelle (nee Woods), and will be remembered fondly by her step-father Frank Bennett (Hanna) of Markdale.

Barb was predeceased by her husband Denny Lougheed in 1982. She will be remembered by her former husband Bert Sadler (Marion) of Clarksburg and will be sadly missed by her dear friend Wayne Kitchener of Meaford.

She was the cherished, beloved and devoted Mom of Carol Sadler Fox (Lyle McConnell) of

Meaford, Grandma of Alicia Fox of Meaford, Rory Fox (Lisa Douglas) of Meaford, Jenny Fox Nicholson (Tyler) of Barrie, and wonderful Great Grandma of Jacob, Oliver, Sophie, Rowan, and Amelia.

Barb will always be remembered as a loving mother-in-law by Gary Fox (Sharon) of Meaford.

She is survived by her sister Sandra Love of Markdale, her brothers Bob and Mike Howey both of Kitchener, and will be remembered fondly by their families. Barb was predeceased by her sisters Marjorie and Margie, and by her brother George.

A private family graveside service will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford. A public celebration of Barbara’s life will be announced at a later date.

Dan passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford on Wednesday April 4, 2018 with his family by his side.

Dan Van Wyck of Meaford and formerly of Owen Sound at the age of 66.

Son of the late Frederick and Louise (née Sylvest) Van Wyck.

Dear father of Shane Van Wyck of Owen Sound and Stephanie Lambe and her husband Blake of Meaford.

Grandfather of Kaiden Van Wyck and Tessa and Gwen Lambe.

Survived also by his sister Ann Van Wyck (Steve Hill) of Meaford and by his brother Jim Van Wyck (Vicki) of Bognor.

Predeceased by his sisters Jane Robertson and Joe-Ann Earnest and remembered also by Dale Robertson and Rick Earnest and by his nieces and nephews.

Grant passed away on December 29, 2017 at the age of 83 after spending Christmas with his family. Loving husband of Barb for 55 years. Wonderful

father to Lori (Sanjeev), Kari (Steve), and Bob (Robin). Proud grandfather of Timothy, Jocelyn, Alexandra, and Teddy. Brother of Jean, Dorothy, Marilyn (deceased), and twin Warren. Cherished uncle to many.

Grant practiced law for 50 years primarily at Scheifele, Erskine, and Renken and was recognized as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. He was the Chair of the Meaford Hospital and Grey County Children's Aid Society.

Grant will be remembered as a phenomenal husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid tennis player, golfer, and downhill skier at Georgian Peaks and in Utah.

GIBSON, CAROLE ANN

Carole Gibson of Meaford passed away peacefully at the Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the age of 74.

Born in Toronto on January 2nd 1944, Carole was the daughter of the late Pauline (nee Leslie) and Arthur ‘Bud’ Hodges.

She was the wife and dear friend of Kevin Rollo of Meaford.

Carole was the adored, cherished, and much loved, mother of Duff Gibson (Jen) of Calgary, Carrie Pyatt of Wasaga Beach, and Robin Parry (Todd) of Newmarket. She was the wonderful ‘GG’ of Geddy, Taye, Gaige ‘Single G’, Rachel, Leah, Callum, Hannah, and Sadie. She will be

remembered fondly by her great friend Mark Pyatt, and also by Linda Parry, Lennie Bolton, Doug and Sue Gibson, Kim and Darren Lawn, Leigh and Chris McGregor and their families, and by her many friends who will miss her love of life dearly.

Carole was one of the first female basketball referees in Canada and was well known for being able to ‘hold her own’ on the court. She loved playing ‘Nic In’ with her friends, teaching her students in both Toronto and Owen Sound, spending winters in Texas, travelling with ‘Kev’, and just spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Carole’s life at her home on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 2 until 5 p.m., where all are invited to share their favourite memories of Carole.

Marc DeCastro of Meaford passed away peacefully at the Meaford Hospital on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the age of 85.

Marc was the much loved husband and best friend of Nina DeCastro of Meaford, and was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1982.

He was the loving father of Marcel (Ken), Monica (Wayne), Andrew (Scott), Theresa (Randy), Christopher (Darlene), Les (Jill), Gerry (Karen), Jude (Lisa), step-father of Jamie (Brian), and predeceased by his step-daughter Christine.

He was a wonderful grandpa to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

STEWART, WILFRED ‘BILL’ GARLAND

Born in Lion’s Head on October 15, 1938 to Wilfred and Jean (nee Bestward) Stewart, Bill passed away at his residence in Meaford on Saturday March 17, 2018 at the age of 79.

Bill was predeceased by his loving wife and partner of sixty years, Carolyn (nee Dyer) Stewart, on October 6, 2017.

He is survived by his son Robert ‘Bob’ Stewart of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia and will be remembered by his many friends and neighbours.

Bill was predeceased by his brother Carman Stewart (late Blanche) and sister Mae (late Delbert) Wickens of Meaford and was also predeceased by his sister-in-law Frankie (late Bruce) Leisk of Collingwood and he will be remembered by his several nieces and nephews

and their families.

Bill will be remembered also for his dedicated involvement with the Meaford Chamber of Commerce, his support of the ‘Scarecrow Invasion’, and his willingness to help any neighbour or friend in any way he could and for his unique sense of humour. Bill enjoyed a successful career as a sales manager for the Linde Corporation as well but his passion was in clock building, collecting and repairing which he continued into his retirement and until the time of his death.

Cremation has taken place and family will gather at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford at a later date when Bill’s ashes will be interred with those of his beloved wife Carolyn.

Sharon Leppard passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the age of 65.

She was the beloved partner and dear friend of Dave Farrow of RR 4, Owen Sound.

Sharon was the much loved mother of Carrie Hill (Mark) of Meaford, Lee-Ann Clements (Ed) of Owen Sound, and Bob Langford (Lisa) of London.

She was the wonderful grandma of Travis, Tristan and Trent Hill; Jaeden and Kyle Marshall; Vanessa Clements; Tyler, Ryan and Emily Langford.

Sharon will be remembered fondly by her brother Ron Leppard (Donna Coleman) of Halifax, NS and was predeceased by her brother Ted Leppard.

MATHESON, NANCY DIANE

After a tenacious battle with Parkinson’s Nancy passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 77.

Beloved wife of John Matheson, Nancy was born in Hanover, ON to the late Stanley and Tillie (née Weis) Wendorf where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood with her sister Jane.

Nancy flourished as a working mom raising three children, Lori, Mark, and Kara. The family balanced their time between Meaford during the school year where Nancy worked as a nurse, and Pugwash NS where family and friends gathered annually to spend time and make memories at Matheson Cove beach.

The beach tradition grew over the years as grandchildren Logan, Sarah, Sydney, Marisa, and Ripley were added to the family. Nancy revelled in spending time on the sand with her children and grandchildren around her enjoying endless sunny days together.

John and Nancy raised and trained standardbred horses on their Meaford farm. Nancy was an avid follower of the horse races and could tell you which horse won which race at what time and speed. She often enjoyed re-watching races of the horses that she and John had personally raised. The barn was like a second home to Nancy and she enjoyed every aspect of raising horses from cleaning the barn to cheering on a winning horse.

In her downtime Nancy enjoyed many different creative pursuits from painting and decorating to knitting. Knitting was an especially fond pastime for Nancy as she could share and enjoy it with her two daughters Lori and Kara who have taken up the craft, and will always think of their mom fondly when they spend time with their knitting.

Nancy spent many an hour watching her favourite sports teams the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Hockey in particular was a family favourite and she was extremely proud watching and cheering on her son Mark when he played minor hockey.

Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will take place at Waugh Cemetery in Pugwash NS so Nancy can be close to the beach that she loved so much.

Randy Morrison of Meaford, born in Collingwood on June 2, 1953, a son of the late Ernest ‘Ernie’ Morrison and Corabel ‘Corrie’ (nee Penrose) Franklin and step son of the late Marie (nee Storey) Morrison, passed away at the Meaford Hospital on Sunday February 11, 2018 at the age of 64.

Randy is survived by his loving wife Valerie (nee Lougheed) and is remembered as a much loved Dad by his children Brandon and his husband Keith of Eugenia, Samantha and her partner Brock Jamieson of Kingston, and Spencer and his partner Liz Beech of Meaford.

Randy was a dear brother of Pam Mills and her husband Brian of Bradford, Steve and his wife Deb Morrison of Collingwood, Warren Morrison and his partner Angela McMullen of Oshawa, Julie and her husband Dan Hunter of London and Jerry Seelers of Mt. Brydges. Randy was

predeceased by brothers John and Richard Morrison. He will be recalled as a special uncle to his several nieces and nephews and their families.

Randy will be recalled also as the son-in-law of Graham and Grace Lougheed of Meaford and will be fondly remembered by the Lougheed family and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be conducted at Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre auditorium 151 Collingwood St. W., Meaford on Friday February 16th at 5 p.m. followed by a reception celebrating Randy’s life from 5:30 until 8 p.m.

A family service of committal and interment of Randy’s ashes will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.

Born in Euphrasia Township, a daughter of the late James and Margaret (nee Curry) McConnell on September 13, 1922, Ruth passed away in Owen Sound in the presence of loving family on Thursday February 8, 2018 at the age of 95.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband James Gray in 2010 while the couple were residents of Ridgetown and shortly thereafter Ruth moved back to Meaford.

She is lovingly remembered by her son Rick Gray of Lindsay and daughter-in-law Tina of Thornbury and was predeceased also by a son Tom Gray in 2017 and is recalled with fondness by his wife Linda of Owen Sound.

She will be remembered also by her adopted daughter Danielle Gray of Niagara Region.

Ruth was a dearly loved Grandmother and Great-grandmother to Amy Ellard-Gray and Kim Ellard and daughter Avery of Guelph, and Sarah Gray and her son Aiden McKee of Owen Sound.

She is survived also by her only surviving sister Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Falvey (late Dan) of Meaford. Ruth was predeceased by six sisters: Edna Smith, Mabel Wonch, Lena McConnell, Florence Sherwood, Jean Eisenhofer, and Marjorie Culbert and by two brothers, Jim and Phene McConnell.

She will be recalled as a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews and their families.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration of Ruth’s life will held at a later date to be announced. A private family service of committal and interment of her ashes will take place at St. James’ Fairmount Anglican Church Cemetery.

Sherry passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Grey Highlands on Monday January 29, 2018 at the age of 51.

She is survived by her mother June (nee Skinner) Varley of Grey Highlands and father Walter Varley and his spouse Pat Price of Collingwood and by her beloved husband Gordon Springer of Grey Highlands.

Sherry was the loved mother of Chris Springer and his wife Amie and Matt Springer and his partner Jenn Robinson all of Collingwood, Anthony and Brandon Springer both at home, Sarah Springer and her partner Matt Kydd of Owen Sound and Emiliee

Springer, also at home, Grey Highlands. She will be sorely missed by her 18 grandchildren.

Sherry was a dear sister to Paul Varley of Owen Sound, Ron Varley and his wife Peggy of Collingwood, David Varley of Bancroft and Cheryl Varley and her partner Dan Santa of Collingwood. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.

RAYNARD, DOROTHY PRISCILLA

Born in Yarmouth Nova Scotia on February 18, 1933, a daughter of the late George and Margaret Surette (nee Robichaud), Dorothy passed away at her home in Meaford on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 84.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband John in 2016, and was predeceased by her son Dan in 2004.

She will be sadly missed by her sisters Betty Ann and Georgina from Nova Scotia, and was predeceased by her siblings Virginia, Kenneth, Marjorie, Yvonne, Charles, Margaret, and Scottie. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorothy was raised by her maternal grandparents until the age of 15. She moved home with her parents for a few

years and then married John Raynard at the age of 17. They worked together at Cosmos Imperial Mills in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and then moved to Meaford, Ontario where she worked at Globe Mills and West Mills. She met many wonderful friends throughout her years working in the textile industry. She always made time to talk with friends and family and let them know how special they were to her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Meaford on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 1p.m. A service of committal and interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

Grant passed away on December 29, 2017 at the age of 83 after spending Christmas with his family. Loving husband of Barb for 55 years. Wonderful

father to Lori (Sanjeev), Kari (Steve), and Bob (Robin). Proud grandfather of Timothy, Jocelyn, Alexandra, and Teddy. Brother of Jean, Dorothy, Marilyn (deceased), and twin Warren. Cherished uncle to many.

Grant practiced law for 50 years primarily at Scheifele, Erskine, and Renken and was recognized as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. He was the Chair of the Meaford Hospital and Grey County Children's Aid Society.

Grant will be remembered as a phenomenal husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid tennis player, golfer, and downhill skier at Georgian Peaks and in Utah.

Born in Toronto on May 24, 1944, a son of the late Robert Arthur and Annie (nee Wright) Jolley, Lindsay passed away unexpectedly at his home in Georgian Bluffs on Thursday December 21, 2017 at the age of 73.

Lindsay is remembered as the loved husband of Carol (nee Lyon) Jolley and as the devoted father and grandfather of son Robert (Heather) Jolley of Owen Sound and their children David and Tash (Nick); daughter Cynthia (Jim) Sylvest of Owen Sound and children Jake (Brianna), Jamie, Dylan and Dakota; daughter Tammy Jolley (Brad Gill) of Owen Sound and children Broadie, MacKala (Travis); and daughter Lindsey (Matt) Watson also of Owen Sound and son Liam.

Lindsay was also a great grandfather to five and brother to Bernice Nye (late Alf) of Owen Sound.

He will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Anne Lyon (late Mac) formerly of Meaford.

Gerry, a son of the late Joseph and Violet (nee Hyland) Wilson, passed away at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Monday December 18, 2017 in his 74th year.

He is remembered as the beloved husband of Jean (nee Scarrow) Wilson of Meaford and much loved father of Barbara Wilson (Tammy) of Wetaskiwin, AB and was predeceased by his son John Wilson in 2015.

He was a dear brother of Ken (Ethel); Audrey Reynolds (late Doug); Margaret Manchester (Rick); Jean Pelland (John); Betty Murphy (Jim); Shirley Cole (late Victor) and David and brother-in-law of Grace.

Gerry was predeceased by his siblings William; Grenville; Mary; Milton; Stan; Donald; Myrna; Helen and Gordon and will be remembered also by his many nieces and nephews and by his good friend Derek.

A longtime Meaford resident and familiar cheerful face to many, Mary (nee Ianosch) passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Saturday December 9, 2017 at the age of 96.

She was predeceased by husbands Frank Bertram Ridd in 1971 and William Acres in 1988 and she will be fondly remembered as a dear mother by her son John Bertram ‘Bert’ Ridd.

Mary will be recalled as a much loved grandmother by Chris Ridd and great grandmother of James and Thomas.

Born in Euphrasia Township on June 7, 1930, a daughter of the late Edward and Florence (nee Falls) Lanktree, Betty Douglas of Owen Sound and a longtime former resident of her home in Meaford passed away peacefully in the presence of loving family at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Friday December 8, 2017 at the age of 87.

Betty is remembered as the much loved and devoted wife of Mack Douglas who predeceased her on July 18, 2017. Betty met Mack through their mutual interest in baseball and the couple wed in Rocklyn in 1948 and enjoyed their life together. Betty and Mack worked together for many years in their insurance business. However, Betty’s main passion was that of caring for her family and community for which her giving manner will not be forgotten.

She is remembered also as the much loved mother of Janis Douglas and her husband Jack Langridge and the late Gail Douglas-Becks and she will be fondly recalled by her grandchildren: Alison Barfoot and her husband Adam, Scott Becks and Jeremy Booth and by step-child Elena Langridge and also by her great grandchildren Julia Barfoot and Blake Barfoot.

Betty was predeceased by a granddaughter Kimberly Booth and sisters Helen Harvey and Barbara Mohr and brother-in-law Murray Douglas. She will be fondly remembered by Greg Becks (Ann), Carl Mohr and Lois Douglas.

Bob Dunnill of Meaford passed away peacefully with his loving wife Marie by his side at the Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the age of 80.

Born in Collingwood on September 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Hugh and Mary (nee Dinsmore) Dunnill.

Bob was the cherished husband of Marie Dunnill (nee Lambe) of Meaford.

He was the kind and fun loving father of Ken Dunnill (Joanne) of Hamilton, Kathy Dunnill (Mike) of Hamilton, Keith Dunnill (Donna) of Meaford, and Karen Dunnill (Chris) of Chatsworth.

Bob was the warm, caring and selfless grandpa of John, Theresa, Kolton, Cody, Destiny, and was predeceased by Chad. He was the great grandpa of Zackery and Taylor. He will be fondly remembered by the Dunnill, Dinsmore and Lambe families.

All who knew Bob will remember him for his contagious smile, joyful laugh, and his sense of humour. He was a dedicated sports fan no matter how poorly the team played. Bob was talented with his hands, whether he was building with wood or playing the piano. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years of his life and enjoyed his 30 year career with King Paving in Burlington. Bob always enjoyed working hard and having a good time.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bob’s life will be conducted at the Meaford United Church on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1 o’clock, with visiting the hour prior to service. SCOTT, GRACE ‘ELEANORE’

Grace “Eleanore” Scott of Meaford passed away on December 3, 2017. Born in Goderich, Ontario in 1925 to George and Edna MacEwan, Eleanore grew up and spent her school years in Goderich. At the age of 8 she lost her mother to complications of scarlet fever. Her father was remarried to Agnes Park Fraser in 1936.

Eleanore married Lee Scott in 1945 and for 71 years spent virtually every day together loving and supporting each other until Lee’s passing in 2016. Lee’s engineering career led to homes in Edmonton, Sarnia, Toronto and finally Meaford in retirement. Eleanore loved the process of planning and building and could spend hours working through the details of a house plan. She was a talented oil and watercolor artist, having over 400 paintings hanging on the walls of homes and offices throughout Ontario and beyond. Her interests also included weaving, ceramics, jewelry and singing in church choirs. She volunteered with

the Meaford Hospital Auxiliary and for years supported charities that assisted disadvantaged and homeless youth. Eleanore and Lee loved to travel and their adventures took them to Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. They were lifelong members of the Presbyterian Church and participated in the planning and construction of the new Knox Presbyterian Church in Meaford.

Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her daughter Jane Arsenault, her brothers Peter and Don, and her granddaughter Carla Haynes. She is survived by her four sons, David (Adaire), Paul (Susan), Brian (Lorraine) and John (Aida). She was blessed with and will be missed by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge the dedicated and compassionate care provided by Errinrung Nursing Home through the last two years.

McLEAN, BARBARA JOAN

Born in Lansing, York County on November 24, 1931, Barb (nee McKain) formerly of Toronto and Meaford, passed away at John Joseph Place in Owen Sound on Monday November 27, 2017 at the age of 86.

Barb worked for several years in Toronto with Canada Post and she and her husband Ed McLean raised their three boys there. She and Ed maintained a fondness for the Georgian Bay area and after Ed’s retirement from North York Hydro the couple planned and built their home in Meaford where they shared many years together in retirement and where they were members of the Meaford United Church. Barb was predeceased by her beloved husband Ed in 2008 after 56 years of marriage.

She will be recalled as a loved mother by her sons Doug of Richmond Hill and Alan (Anne) of Barrie and she was also predeceased by a son Bruce in 2010.

Funeral services, officiated by Reverend SallyAnn Longfellow, will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., in Meaford on Thursday November 30th at 2 p.m.

Doreen passed away peacefully at her home in Meaford with loving family by her side on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the age of 89. She was born in Guyana on April 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Eustace and Bedora (née Bobb) Marshall.

She was predeceased by her husband Donald Evans on February 4, 2014.

Doreen was the treasured mother of Otis James of England, John James of British Columbia, Shauna Boesch (Frank) of Scarborough, and Bryan James (Angela) of Meaford. She will be remembered fondly by her 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, 4 sisters and her many nieces, nephews and their families.

In keeping with her wishes and interest in education and research, Doreen’s body has been bequeathed to the School of Anatomy at the University of Western Ontario. Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service at the Meaford United Church on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11 o’clock.

and Matt Mannella (Heather); daughter Darla and her husband Mark Prentice of Owen Sound and children Ryan and Kyle Harrison and Cole, Claire and Lucas Prentice; and son Rick Sadler and his partner Shannon Busby of Collingwood and children Michaela and Aaron Sadler.

He was a dear brother to Audrey (George) Arbuthnot of Collingwood and Bert (Marion) Sadler of Clarksburg. He was predeceased by an infant brother Percy, and sisters Rita Sadler, Dorothy (late Aubrey) Richardson and Helen (late Jim) Lambe.

RICHARDSON, ALAN DONALD

Born in Collingwood on August 9, 1929, a son of the late Clifford and Cora (nee Lachapelle) Richardson, longtime Meaford resident Alan Richardson passed away in Meaford on Sunday November 12, 2017 at the age of 88.

Owner and operator of Cliff Richardson Boat Works for many years and a tireless volunteer, builder and sponsor of sports in the community, Al was also an avid curler and golfer whose cheerful manner made him a favourite and leader in all he set his hand to accomplish. Many will recall his dedication to the Meaford Fastball Club where he and his teammates were tremendously successful and formed lasting friendships.

Al will be remembered as the devoted husband of Olive (nee Seabrook) whom he married in Walter’s Falls in

1954. He will be recalled with great affection by his son Mark and wife Yvonne, formerly of Aurora and now residing in Meaford, and he will be sorely missed by his grandsons Brett and Stefan.

A brother Douglas Richardson predeceased him and he will be remembered also by Dorothy Pillgrem of Meaford and by his sisters-in-law Iva Rennie of Owen Sound and Blanche Mower of Meaford and by his several nieces and nephews and their families.

A memorial gathering, celebrating Al’s life will be held at the Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre, Collingwood St., Meaford on Friday November 17 from 12 noon until 3 p.m. where family will welcome the opportunity to share memories of Alan. Memorial reflections will be offered at 1:30 p.m.

Carolyn is remembered as a much loved wife and partner of 60 years by Wilfred ‘Bill’ Stewart of Meaford and is survived also by a son Robert Patrick Stewart, four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren residing in the Maritime Provinces.

Carolyn will be recalled by many in the community for her efficiency and service in the business offices at ‘Amerock’ and for her many hours of volunteer contributions to the community of Meaford over the years including the annual Scarecrow Festival.

A sister Thelma Ann Hills (late James) of Meaford predeceased Carolyn and she was the sister-in-law of Carman and Blanche Stewart of Meaford, Frankie and Bruce Leisk of Collingwood and Mae and Delbert ‘Bert’ Wickens of Meaford all of whom also predeceased her.

TULLOCH, BARBARA ANN

Born in Meaford on April 2, 1939, a daughter of the late Raymond and Ruby (nee Doherty) Rennie, Barb passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at the age of 78.

Many will recall that Barb was a life long member of the Meaford, St. Vincent, Euphrasia and Rocklyn communities which she supported throughout her life with many hours of cheerful volunteer work.

She is remembered as the beloved wife of Ronald Tulloch and as a devoted mother and ‘Mom’, mother-in-law and Grandma by Debbie and Gord Grimsley of Meaford and their children Brandon and his wife Ashley Grimsley and Kyler Grimsley and his fiancée Alyssa Dawson; Brian and Angela Tulloch of Meaford

and their children Alex, Spencer, Dana and Cameron.; and she was predeceased by a daughter Sharon Doherty and a son-in-law Brad Doherty also of Meaford and is remembered by their children Shauna and her friend Chris, Kendall and her son Dallan, and Chantelle and her friend Dyllan.

Barb was predeceased also by her brother Alonzo Rennie and is remembered fondly by his wife Ruth of Meaford.

She was a dear aunt to her nieces and nephews and their families.

Barb’s family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Sunday afternoon from 1 until 4 p.m.

McNALLY, DORIS LUELLA

Born in Euphrasia Township on July 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Ella (nee Ward) and Edgar Gorley, Doris passed away in Meaford on Sunday October 8, 2017 in her 84th year.

Doris, a longtime resident of Meaford, was predeceased by her husband Harold McNally in 2016 and is remembered as a cherished Mother by her daughters Shirley McNally of Meaford and Margaret McNally-Murphy and her husband Alvin of Toronto.

She was a loving Gramma to Heather Murphy and Kevin Murphy and his girlfriend Maddie Chard.

Doris was predeceased by her sister Jean (late Elgin) Wiley of Meaford and is fondly remembered as a

special aunt by their children Kenneth Wiley (late Virginia) and Kevin Wiley and his wife Anne of Meaford. She was predeceased by her niece Karen and is remembered by her husband Gerry Lush of Cambridge.

Doris was a dear sister-in-law to Aileen (late Lavergne) Baker of Port Elgin and Art McNally and his wife Jean of Meaford and was predeceased by a sister-in-law Loretta McNally.

Family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., in Meaford on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 o’clock.

HOUSE, DORIS EVELYN

Born in Meaford on October 11, 1918, a daughter of the late Albert and Laura (nee Hendry) Craig, Doris passed away at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on October 7, 2017 at the age of ninety eight.

Doris was predeceased by her husband Peter M. House in 1985 and is remembered as the much loved mother of Pat Conway and her husband Dave of Meaford.

She was predeceased by brothers Alvin (late Jen) of Kitchener, Homer (late Nan) also of Kitchener, Wilfred and Lloyd and a sister Helen (late Jack) Rayner all of Meaford and she is remembered also as dear sister-in-law by Laura Craig and Marjorie Craig, both of Meaford.

Doris will be recalled fondly by her several nieces and nephews and by their families.

A private family service of committal and interment will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford.

HARTMAN, CORNELIA ‘CORRIE’

Corrie Hartman of Meaford passed away peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford on Wednesday October 4, 2017, at the age of 91.

Corrie was born on August 22, 1926, in Voorhout, The Netherlands, a daughter of the late Adrianus and Cornelia (nee Kaptijn) Vander Poel.

Corrie was the beloved wife of Bert Hartman, and was predeceased by her first husband Joe Vander Hulst of Bradford in 1977.

She was the loving mother of Jane (Sjef) Oostdam of Heathcote, Adrian (Diana) Vander Hulst of Meaford, Bert (Nancy) Vander Hulst of Bradford, and Connie (Jan) Oostdam of Voorhout, The Netherlands. She will be fondly remembered by

Bert Hartman’s children Marianne (Grant) Holden, Ludy (Wayne) Gibson, Patricia (Wade) Cox, and Yolanda (Steve) Pigden.

Corrie was the wonderful Oma to 26 grandchildren and Great Gramma to 23 great grandchildren.

She will be remembered as an active member of her community, and enjoyed participating, volunteering and helping out in any way she could.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church, Cook Street, in Meaford on Saturday October 7, 2017 at 11 o’clock. Family will receive friends the hour prior to service. A private family service of committal and interment will be conducted at Holy Martyrs of Japan Cemetery in Bradford.

STEGMAIER, GERHARD BRUNO

Born in Baiertal, Germany on May 8, 1946, a son of the late Bruno Stegmaier (2003) and Anni Christina Link (2002), Gerhard passed away following a courageous struggle with the afflictions of cancer at the Meaford Hospital on September 26, 2017 at the age of 71.

Gerhard will be sorely missed by his loving wife and partner Colleen Young Stegmaier of Thornbury and by his much loved son John and daughter Christina both at home, Thornbury.

He was devoted not only to his family at home and in Europe but also to his many dear friends, brothers and sisters.

Gerhard will be remembered for his commitment to his trade being a master electrician and dedicated to his field of work in electrical controls and robotics.

Gerhard’s family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church (corner of Cook and Collingwood Street in Meaford) on Saturday September 30th at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Terrace Room at Meaford Hall.

OLIVER, JAMES MAXWELL ‘JIM’

Jim Oliver of Meaford passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Saturday September 23, 2017at the age of 84.

Jim was born January 26, 1933 in Meaford, a son of the late Melville and Bessie (nee Maxwell) Oliver.

Jim was the beloved husband of Judith Oliver (nee Robart) of Meaford, and was predeceased by his first wife Joanne (nee Smith) in 2001.

He was the loving father of Julia Schmalz of London, ON and Jeffrey Oliver of Vancouver, BC. Jim was predeceased by his daughter Janice Oliver in 1970. He will be remembered fondly by Judith’s children Gregory (Laura) Walker of Mississauga, and Susan (John) Hamilton of Wasaga.

Jim was the wonderful grandpa of Rachel, Jacob, Shawn, Alex, and Ian (Jen), and great grandpa of Max and Abby.

He was the dear brother of Donald and his wife Florence Oliver of Fergus, and was predeceased by brothers Douglas and Frederick. Jim will be remembered always and fondly by his many nieces, nephews and their families.

Cremation has taken place and Jim’s family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday September 28th from 5 until 8 p.m. A memorial funeral service, officiated by Reverend SallyAnn Longfellow, will be conducted at the Meaford United Church on Friday September 29, 2017 at 11 o’clock. All are invited to gather with Jim’s family for a time of sharing and refreshments in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service. Marie passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in her 84th year.

The daughter of the late Gordon Smith and Gladys Taylor, she was born in Northern Quebec and grew up in Toronto. She was the beloved wife of Harold G.R. Jones who predeceased her in 1994. Marie was the dear mother of Joyce Adams and Jeff Jones of Meaford, Jim Jones and his wife Lorna-Jean of Edmonton, and Jo-Anne Flink and her husband Fred of Severn Bridge.

She will be fondly remembered by her grandsons Jason, Matthew and Richard Jones, Mike Adams, and Christopher Flink. She will be sorely missed by her great-grandchildren Kevin, Jasmine and Trinity Adams,

with whom she spent many weekends.

She is survived by her sister Aline ('Thomas) Stewart and predeceased by her brothers George and Harvey Smith.

In keeping with Marie’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will follow at a later date.

ORMSBY, VIOLA MADELINE JEAN (nee BREADNER) Born in Euphrasia Township February 1, 1929, a daughter of the late Ruby (nee McKeown and James Breadner, Viola (Vi) was called home while at the Meaford Long Term Care facility surrounded by her family on Monday September 11, 2017 in her 89th year.

Vi was the loving wife of 69 years to Glen Ormsby, and dear mother of Paul (Rose) of Campbellville, Bob ( Kit) of Kenogami Lake, Rosemary Lelenka ( Ernie) of Long Sault, and Mark ( Helen) of Meaford. She is survived by sisters Bernice Logan of Hamilton and Donna Jonsson of Winnipeg, brother Douglas Breadner of Meaford and was predeceased by a brother Mac Breadner. Vi was loved by grandchildren Nathan Ormsby (Mandy), Brandon Ormsby (Krista), Matthew Ormsby, Brittany Sheridan (Nathan), Justin Ormsby, and Stefanie Klemencic (Nathan) and fondly remembered by great grandchildren, Ashley, Iris,

Lily, Taylen, Nolan, Gavin and Isla. She will be truly missed.

Vi had been a farm girl all her life. She was born in a farm house and grew up in Euphrasia Township, eventually getting married and moving to another farm on the 3rd line of St Vincent Township. There she raised a family and became “the teacher” to her four children. She was famous for her sense of humour, her cookies and biscuits, and her caring attitude toward both the 2 and 4 legged creatures in her life. Known to be feisty with that “can do” attitude, her outstanding work ethic set her apart in the many part time jobs she had over the years. She travelled when she could, cherished the occasional rum and coke and always put her family first.

Vi’s family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday September 14th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A private family service will be conducted at Christ Church Anglican in Meaford with a service of committal and interment at the Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford to follow.
