AUGUST 2017

This annual four-day event takes place each July in Wyoming’s beautiful Grand Teton National Park. Just to the north is Yellowstone National Park. The venue for the Sunday through Wednesday worship services, lectures and classes is the Amphitheater at Colter Bay Village. This has been a regular occurrence since 1980! Most of the Christians who attend are from congregations in our western states. Some bring their RVs for accommodation. Camping areas are provided for those who want to rough it and stay in a tent. Cabins are also available to rent. The scenery, of course, is spectacular and the fellowship with members of the Lord’s church from so many different places is wonderful. We have participated several times in the past and usually drive. It’s a long road trip from Dallas! This year, as once before, we used air miles, flew into nearby Jackson Hole and

rented a car. Ron White—who has preached in Clearfield, Utah for many years—is in

charge of the program and always does a terrific job. The theme this year was

“Occasions of Rejoicing.” I was assigned two lessons: “Rejoice in Furtherance

of the Gospel” (based on Philippians 1:12-18) and “Rejoice in Jesus Going to

the Father” (based on John 14:28-31). Rose taught one of the ladies’ classes. Her

lesson was “The Essence of Christian Living.” It centered on several of the

statements of Jesus in the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5 through 7. The messages I heard were true to the word, very informative and encouraging. If you might be interested in attending the Teton meetings sometime in the future let me know. When I

receive news from Ron White about dates and themes I will pass that information along to you. It seems the time for next year’s encampment is still to be the same as in years gone by…the 2nd Sunday in July. But—trust the government—apparently some new rules are being put in place which will make it impossible for us to have long-term reservations for the Amphitheater on these dates. This has always been an excellent time for the event and many of the people who come need to know the exact dates well in advance. Ron White is looking for a way to overcome this. We hope somehow the present arrangement can continue.

I will leave August 10th for south India with Dennis Thompson as my coworker. He is

a member at Wylie where Rose and I worship. His job took him to Abu Dhabi, the

capital of the United Arab Emirates. He and his wife, Denise, lived there nearly

three years. Most of the Christians in that Muslim country are citizens of India who have come for employment. The Thompsons were very active in the Lord’s work there and even made one visit to India during those years. On this trip Dennis and I will have plenty of preaching opportunities. However, as usual, our main work in India is always to teach training classes for Indian preachers.

Rose and I have been doing foreign mission work for more than 40 years. This includes

living overseas nearly 20 of those years. When I’m not out of the country I am available

to give PowerPoint presentations about some of the interesting and important places

we work. If you know of a congregation you think might be interested in this let me

know.

Your coworker,

Ronald Coleman

Below is Psalms 117.

(The middle chapter in the Bible…and the shortest.)

1. Oh praise Jehovah, all ye nations: Laud him, all ye peoples.

2. For his lovingkindness is great toward us; And the truth of Jehovah endureth forever.

Praise ye Jehovah.
