Evaluation Question 2: How do your media product represent

particular social groups?

A range of micro elements are used in my introductory sequence which explore areas of representation at the macro level of the text.I have used a range of elements from the mise-en-scene category including such simple props which are used by the characters such as, a bag, costume in the form of clothes being thrown into a bag which all has importance in the extract because it shows the mood of the character and what is happening in the scene.

• Another prop such as the photo album shows massive significance as it shows how much family means to the character, but when she comes across of a picture of her and her boyfriend she throws it away which represents the anger that she has for him.

• The specific event that is happening in the extract that is being represented is a relationship break up.

• The key representative area in the extract I see is gender and class and status.

The issue of gender are being represented in the extract. This is represented in a very clear way to the audience. It is clearly shown that the character has had enough and that there is some sort of barrier to show there is no love in the relationship anymore that is why the female character is shown packing her things in the extract, and when females feel there is no love in the relationship anymore they decide enough is enough and leave this could represent gender and their differences.

The issues of class and status is being could be interpreted. This could be because in the extract the male character is shown taking shopping home which could indicate he has no job, and could show that the female could be working and putting in all the effort for the both of them, this could put strain on the relationship which could make the female not love the male character.

Exhausted Boyfriend

The technical elements used in the extract is used to portray the characteristics of a relationship break up. This is effective and is very clear to the audience I feel because it clearly shows that the female is leaving and is very clear when the male receives a text from the female character saying “Goodbye”.
