How does your media product represent particular social groups? The antagonist of our film is exhibited to the audience in the opening sequence as someone who hides his identity to murder his victims. You will be able to clearly see this in the opening sequence as it is shot as the antagonist is painting his face in his place. We don’t show his face completely as it will break the suspense and it is showing that his identity is been hidden. We also tried to show his personality through the props around his area such as hammer, nails, bible etc. these props could suggest that he is very dangerous, however religious to. This makes the character very complicated and hard to read and understand by the audience because he been portrayed as a villain with good intentions. Our character is influenced from the jigsaw in the saw series. What’s remarkable about Jigsaw is the fact that he murdered with legit moral as motive. In fact, if you really want to be technical about it, Jigsaw didn’t actually kill: he offered a terrifying ultimatum that typically led to death. It’s a rare ideology and I personally think that it increases the quality of the characters horror value. Moreover, his flash back which led him to the crimes are also similar to ours. He was devoted to his wife named Jill and almost had a son but she'd had a miscarriage after being hit in the stomach from a door by a drug addict, who became John's first victim-- turning John detached and angry (then being diagnosed with cancer, John then attempted suicide, but failed and became the Jigsaw killer. This is his background that led him to the crimes. In the other hand, the story that led our character to the crime was that he was a very training to be a priest, he was working sincerely in the old age home and in the process discover the dirty motives behind the most respected man in the community. As a payback to that he begins a smear campaign against him and a sister who works in the church of having an illicit affair. This got them thrown out of the church. However, they decided to live together as the whole community thinks that they are having an affair. However, one day his wife gets killed as no one helped him to take his pregnant wife to the hospital as his car got broke down in middle of the way to the hospital. This led him to isolation and becoming the masked killer. As you can tell both stories are pretty much similar as both characters are have a similar path which led them to their crimes. In addition, both characters are very complicated because their past makes the audience to feel sorry for them.

How does your media product represent particular social groups? The antagonist of our film is exhibited to the audience in the opening sequence as someone who hides his identity to murder his victims. This makes the character very complicated and hard to read and understand by the audience because he been portrayed as a villain with good intentions. Our character is influenced from the jigsaw in the saw series. Whats remarkable about Jigsaw is the fact that he murdered with legit moral as motive. In fact, if you really want to be technical about it, Jigsaw didnt actually kill: he offered a terrifying ultimatum that typically led to death. Its a rare ideology and I personally think that it increases the quality of the characters horror value. Moreover, his flash back which led him to the crimes are also similar to ours. He was devoted to his wife named Jill and almost had a son but she'd had a miscarriage after being hit in the stomach from a door by a drug addict, who became John's first victim--turning John detached and angry (then being diagnosed with cancer, John then attempted suicide, but failed and became theJigsaw killer. This is his background that led him to the crimes. In the other hand, the story that led our character to the crime was that he was a very training to be a priest, he was working sincerely in the old age home and in the process discover the dirty motives behindthe most respected man in the community. The puppet is used by the jigsaw to communicate with his test subjects by delivering recorded messages, often appearing on a television screen or occasionally in person to describe the details of the sadistic traps and the means by which the test subjects could survive. Viewers have sometimes incorrectly identified the puppet itself asJigsaw, because of its presence and connection to the killer. In the other hand, our character uses a religious quote that Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do to back up his crimes and he uses an art form of another religion for this crimes so that his identity wont be found.

Our antagonist is also similar to the antagonist in se7en. The antagonist of se7en, John Doe is a psychopathic serial killer obsessed with the Seven Deadly Sins of Christianity, and hekills his victims in symbolic murders representingin an attempt to remind the world about the inevitability to avoid thesesins. His insanityis based on fanaticism and obsession but did little to damage his knowledge; in fact, his madness mayhave added to it as heis portrayed asa twisted mastermind whois comfortable with toying with the authorities. Doe particularlyseems to enjoy playing games with the film's protagonists,Detective David Millsand DetectiveWilliam Somerset. Our antagonist is also presented in a similar way because the investigator in our film gets really confused with the mind games and the complex personality of our antagonist as he seems very normal and blends in with the world but the dark past forced him to an abnormal psychological state which is linked to the genre. If you look at how these characters are represented through the media, you can clear see a link between them and it shows how it is related to our character. If you look at these characters, both are normal middle class men living with family and looks like a very ordinary people. Therefore, they dont stand out and are harder to find. This makes them stronger and dangerous. If you look at their dressing, John Doe usually wears an ordinary shirt and pants and jigsaw wears a t-shirt and a jacket which clearly tells that both are middle classed men. This tells us that the villains in psychological thrillers are usually middle classed men and you can see this by looking at other examples like such as buffalo bill in the silence of the lambs, Norman bates in the psycho, Annie Wilkes in the misery. All these characters are middle aged people with a dark past or an unstable psychological mind which links clearly to the genre. You can clearly see how my opening sequence fit the typical social group of psychological thriller villains with the similar type opening to se7en where a brief explanation is given to the audience about the antagonist and in that brief explanation you can easily tell what kind of social group he fits into. These shots clearly tell that the antagonist is a middle classed because if you look at his objects he uses, you celery tell that its very old and dusty and cant afford to buy new and clean equipments. Moreover, the Area he is Woking around looks very unclean and dusty suggesting that has been living there for a long time and cant afford a new and dont even get time to clean them.

You can see how our opening is similar to the se7en because we kind of used the same technique and formula of introducing the antagonist of the audience without breaking the suspense. We also used the props, settings to show the social group of our antagonist, for instance the dark lighting, rusty tools and the untidy location Cleary tells the audience that the character is a middle classed person. Looking at my opening sequence you could clearly tell that I followed a typical representation of characters in a psychological thriller and portrayed my characters without breaking the stereotypical representation of psychological villains. These are some of the greatest physiological thriller movie villains of all time. You can clearly see that all of them are presented as ordinary middle classed people and you would tell this by their dressing, their way of living, the way they talk and the settings and locations they are shown in. however, its their psychological state that makes them commit the crimes and these psychological state changes for many reasons. For instance, in the shining jack Torrance psychological state changes because of isolation, as he is living in such a big hotel far away from town with just his wife and his kid. In the other hand, John had a bad childhood which became a major factor of his crimes. He suffered headaches because of the many shock treatments he endured. As he got older John's mom often beat him with a spoon, belt, or her fist, which would cause John's nose to bleed. John, now a grown man with a wife, found her cheating on him; John never had children because his wife was unable to so he never touched her. He had a normal job until he had a disagreement with is boss about the handling of the company that John worked for and he was then fired. Therefore, it is his past that changed his physiological state. This has been followed with our characters to. Therefore, our movie will be portraying the middle class ordinary people who works as cashiers, waiters, cleaners, customer service representatives etc., in a negative manner. Moreover, as our opening have the Christianity cross as one of the props, some Christians may also get offended how a religious symbol is used when portraying a dangerous and an evil character.
