Camera-Used for filming the opening sequence

Final Cut Pro-Used for editing the opening sequence and the creation of the company ident.

IMac-For research, planning and using Final Cut

iPad-For recording voice over for opening sequence

Tripod- Used to create shots without any camera movement and panning shots.

What we used:

Planning and filming

When planning our opening sequence we used many different many different forms of research. This included creating storyboards, Pinterest for outfits and props planning, Pearl and Dean to research the thriller genre and YouTube to watch examples. We also used power points to present our ideas.

When actually creating our opening we used a range of equipment. We used a camera and tripod for the actual filming which allowed us to achieve a variety of shots.

Timeline-By editing the shots in a number of ways e.g using the blade tool to adjust clips, we were able to achieve the feel to the opening that we wanted.

Text editing-Here we edited and added in all the credit information for our opening. We also created our company ident using the tools here. The ident especially adds to the professionalism of our opening.

Effects/Transitions-Here we chose from a variety of available effects. For example we made many of our shots in the woods darker to create a more eerie and mysterious feel. We also used 'flash' and 'blur' transitions between our shots during the flashback portion of our video. This added to the dreamy feel we were trying to achieve.

Soundtrack-We added in a copyright free soundtrack to our opening which we got form bensound.comWe also layered lots of diagetic sound throughout the opening.

Websites/applications used

I used YouTube to look at other thriller opening sequences as well as to annotate our opening and receive feedback on our final cut.

Prezi was a useful presentation tool that made research and evaluation tasks more engaging.

Google was used for just all round research on all aspects of our production.

Bensound allowed us to find some copyright free music that was well suited to our opening so we could achieve the opening effect we wanted.

Storyboard that was useful in creating the final storyboard during the planning stage of our opening. This meant we were prepared and had a good idea of what we were filming in advance of the filming day.

Slideshare was another good method of presenting our ideas to others in order for us to receive feedback and improve our ideas/production.

images.jpegPearl & Dean was very important during research of target audiences and understanding who our target audience is.
