INTRODUCTIONFor this next task I am giving an updated version of my ‘What

Institution Would make My Film’ blog as I am now going to analyse two very different film companies on which I believe would make my film ‘DAMMIA’ in the form of the

idea and my product, one a growing independent British film

company and the other out of the Big Six film companies which are

Warner Brothers, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Waltz Disney Pictures, Columbia Pictures and Universal.

WHY WOULD THEY MAKE OUR FILM?

• “Over the years the team at DNA has demonstrated a remarkable gift for developing strong, well-written material and managing productions with tremendous production values,” This statement written about the company DNA I believe highly represents our Thriller meaning our film will create along with the help of the Production company an interesting piece that would fit easily into their already growing portfolio of their Thrillers as they distribute films from a wide range of different Genres and Themes including the Oscar Winning film written and directed by Alex Garland, “Ex Machina”.

• “This venture will give their talent access to a global audience from a creative base in London and will give our networks group the opportunity to work with them’ Also as the DNA films studio is currently located in London travel costs would be much cheaper than if they had to travel abroad all with equipment to film a project where as we are also located very nearby London showing again why are film would be a good film to make.

• DNA Films also have a distribution agreement with FOX searchlight which focuses plainly on British independent films which clearly applies to our project, but this work partnership also benefits DNA as it helps in the terms of funding as they are available to supported finance from the UK Film Council which with government grants from the National Lottery funds money to kick start projects.

TARGET AUDIENCES

• The main Target Audience DNA Films are predominantly making their films for are of the ages between16-35

• Due to the consistent themes of mature content portrayed in DNA Films, in order to prevent any

complaints they must keep to a similar age limit, however there are also some considerations for younger audiences.

• Connecting to a global distribution network assisting DNA the production company has successfully

advertised in terms of getting the attention of their target audience.

• Paramount also developed into the first ever major Hollywood studio to begin distributing all of its films in digital-form from the year of 2014.

Page 13: EVALUATION TASK 3

WHY WOULD THEY MAKE OUR FILM?

• I believe Paramount would make our film because we have strong theme and idea that is open for alterations which along with the help of Paramount we would be able to achieve.

• Paramount also has a large amount of finance available, this means that they can invest into any film that they think has potential meaning they have the budget to transform any project.

• As Paramount Pictures work with a lot of genres especially Sub-Genres of Thrillers our film ‘DAMMIA’ would make a good addition to their port folio as they currently don’t own a project along the same theme to ours giving them the opportunity in creating something new.

TARGET AUDIENCES

According to an Interview with Amy Powell, the SVP of Interactive Marketing at Paramount, Paramount Pictures

focuses on audiences between the ages of 21 to 29.

"Our core target audience of males and females 21 to 29 represent an entirely new generation of moviegoers who

have vastly different interests, actions and attitudes than those before them”

Even though with this statement above Paramount has instituted hundreds of movies targeted towards numerous different audiences making it available for the majority of people with also the wide stretched Genres of films also

distributed.

MARKETING• “For youth aged 13 to 24, time spent on the internet now exceeds the time spent watching

television. This generation is spending more time multi-tasking and taking advantage of active media that allows them to interact with others in their peer group, a level of interaction that is impossible to attain with traditional marketing media.” a statement from Amy Powell

• Paramount is constantly on the look of learning and developing new ways in interactive advertising and Marketing with offices in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Australia and New Zealand Paramount Pictures markets and distributes films to many theatres and audiences worldwide,

• “We are finding that an increasing number of moviegoers are citing the internet and various interactive devices as being the most important reason for going to see a particular movie on opening weekend.” Another statement from Amy Powell tells us how New advertisement and marketing is taking over in the world of film and television, meaning online marketing is the best new way in selling product with also being much cheaper than traditional marketing.
