from the process of constructing this product?

Adobe Photoshop CS4 + CS6 I learnt how to use Photoshop to construct my front cover allowing me to efficiently edit my products to resemble a professional product. When learning to use Photoshop I discovered a number of features which would aid me in the construction of my product, these included using the channel mixer to edit my image making it black and white to fit my chosen genre better. The use of grids and guides allowed my to keep sell lines even and not out of place, cutting around the main image allowing the masthead to be placed behind he models o give a more professional appearance. Another feature which I learned to use in Photoshop was the hide layers feature which allowed me to quickly work out which layer was which and also hide and unhide layers to experiment with what looked best. I learnt to export a file as a jpeg meaning I could upload I as an image to my blog. I also learnt o save files as IDML when working on a system with CS6 installed so that I could continue to work on CS4 installed computers as well.

Adobe InDesign cs4 + cs6• I used InDesign to construct my contents page and double page spread , through which I

leant about a number of features available within InDesign. One of the features which I learnt was the display performance feature, this enabled me to work with a lower quality display preventing the program from running slower or freezing , however when I wanted to see how my product looked in a high quality display I could change to a high quality display temporarily . I learnt how to use the direct selection tool which meant I could move an image around or crop or resize it within a frame without he frame being effected. Much like in Photoshop , grids and guides allowed my to keep everything evenly in line. I learnt how to place my cover image from Photoshop in InDesign so that if the Photoshop file was edited it would automatically update on InDesign also which saved time. When I waned to upload my products to my blog I could export the file in a JPEG format meaning I could easily upload he image to my blog.

Blogger• I have used Blogger as a place for all my files to be stored , edited and

displayed online. Using blogger I have learnt how to make a blog post using text as well as learning how to place images, video and online presentations (embed) in my posts so that I can show my work effectively. I have also learnt how to change the dates of posts enabling me to arrange my posts in the way that I need to.

Prezi• Learning how to use prezi given me he ability to produce scrolling , zooming , well

presented presentations online to display my work in a mind map style. Within Prezi I learned how to insert images from my documents or alternatively from a URL or google image search. With images inside the prezi I learnt how to cop and resize these images in line with my work. With all my work displayed I have also learnt how to edit a path to guide the viewer through the presentation in the way I have specified . I have also learnt how to embed my prezis into my blog on BlogSpot.

Pixton

• Pixton was another useful tool which enabled me to create online comic strips to display different ideas such as magazine production stages. I learnt how to place backgrounds , insert speech bubbles and alter the characters pose relevant to the scene. Once I had created my comic strip I learnt how to save the file as a jpeg so that it could be easily placed in my blog

Moviemaker

Using movie maker I have created a video to show stereotypes and conventions of my target audience. Within moviemaker I have learned how to import images and audio into the program to be placed in my frames as well as learning how to create and edit titles and credits which has enabled me to create presentational videos

YouTube

I have learnt to use YouTube to upload my presentational videos for online viewing. When using YouTube I have learnt to upload videos as well as changing title, choosing thumbnail and editing the privacy setting to make my video unlisted. This means that only people with the link I provide can view my video. I have also learned how to then embed the video into a blog post for viewing.

Camera , lighting, backdropIn order to take photos for my products I used a Nikon D300S camera in order to achieve detailed high quality images. Using this camera I learnt how to adjust aperture, shutter speed , iso and white balance in order to achieve the kind of shots that I wanted. Another piece of equipment which I used to achieve my cover photo (not used in contents or DPS images) is external studio flashes with soft boxes in order to provide even lighting and a professional look , I learnt how to adjust and place these in order to achieve a good shot. The third piece of equipment which I used is a grey coloured backdrop learning how to adjust and set this up allowed my images to achieve the effect and solid colours which I wanted for my cover image.
