Evaluation QuestionThe Tea BoyBy Hamim Tak Q: How do your product use or challenge conventions and how do they represent social groups?

My film is based on the conventional hybrid genre of romantic drama. In this the protagonist is shown living a regular but sad and depressed life. But I challenged the conventions by showing that the protagonist has homo-sexual desires and this way I challenged Laura Mulvey's Male Gaze Theory. I also challenged the conventions by using more mid shot and close up shots in my movie than long shots. Another way I challenged conventions is by shooting my film's scene not according to their appearences i.e. shooting the first scene first. Another convention which I challenged was showing the whole movie first and then jumping back to title scene to show the ending of the film. Another convention I chellenged was delaying the film's climax until the end. I challenged a lot of conventions in my film in order to make it more interesting and appealing. My film represents the social groups of homo sexual. It shows that not all married couples are happy and neither does being married insures that someone will not become homo sexual. It also targets the social groups of rich and poor as it shows that a person at an managerial level fells in love with a mere tea boy who works at his office.
