This is achieved by having the main cover image placed in the centre of the page and covers a vast majority of the cover page. By doing so, it can create the illusion that the image is watching the audience due to the model staring directly at the camera. This allows the audience to engage with the magazine through the appearance of the cover image and the style of the layout. Additionally, I have opted to apply a black and white effect on the cover image to allow it to stand out further than it would in colour. I have also applied a large, bold masthead so that the magazine can be easily read by the audience and so that it stands out amongst the other aspects of the magazine cover page. To ensure that the cover remained simple like I intended, I kept the information on the cover to a minimum and only included what I though was necessary, i.e. the artists and articles the magazines contain. Evaluation Question 5:Evaluation Question 5: 'How did you attract/address your audience?'

The main attraction of my magazine would be the front cover. By ensuring that the cover is simple, it prevents the cover from appearing too cluttered and overloaded with information and following this style. If the magazine appears cluttered and crowded with information, it could result in losing the interest of my target audience. The model in the cover image attracts and engages with the audience through the genre of music performed by the artist and also follows a style that sums up the entire magazine. The way in which the model is clothed will attract and engage with the audience as he is dressed in clothing that can be purchased from 'Topshop', an example of a shop which the target audience visit to retrieve their clothing. By clothing the model in clothes from this particular establishment, it is relatable between the model and the reader and they both follow a particular style. My target audience dress and behave the way they do due to the influence they have had from listening to the music that they are interested in. The music provided by the artists inspires the audience to dress and act like them which is something that I expected as this shows that the artists can engage with the audience. By following this style, the magazine could result in losing interest by the target audience. From my research using the UKTribes website, I decided to aim my magazine at 'Indie Scenesters' and 'Mainstream' social groups. By understanding who my target audience is, I now know what should be included in my magazine to suit their needs and interests. In response, I included articles and information that would be interesting to the audience. The fonts and images implemented on my final product would appear interesting to the audience as it they are bold and legible to the reader. By implementing these on the cover page, it should assist in attracting the attention of my target social group. I have applied the technique of inserting some of the artists that are included in the magazine on the cover page, as this interests the audience because they can then read the magazine to see what is new concerning these particular artists and bands. I have decided to use the title 'GENERATION' because this could symbolise a new breed of magazine, in which it is, as well as suggesting evolution of the genre, which is shown by my inclusion of younger people being affected by the music genre. My audience, especially Indie Scenester, like to discover new and innovative things, so by creating a brand that symbolises a new breed of music magazine could help to attract the audience and encourage them to read the magazine. I have opted to apply a reasonably formal language structure with some informality. I believe that the age range that I have selected has influenced me to apply this language register however; the Indie Scenester social group influenced me to apply formal content as well to make the magazine different. Current indie magazines opt for an informal language register but I have also applied formal content to suit the target group as they like 'different'. To ensure that my magazine achieved this, I applied formal text to a vast majority of the main article to portray maturity and seriousness with some informal language to entertain and interest the audience. Since my magazine targets both 'Indie Scenesters' and 'mainstream' social groups, I believe that the magazine suits the audience as it contains some laid back content with a majority of mature and serious content. The informal language register is the firm favourite amongst the social groups but to interpret the magazine as 'different' I have inserted formal text also. By applying these different languages on my magazine, it shows which individuals like certain language uses and their interests which they enjoy.
