Evaluation Question 4 Who would be the audience for your media product? Interviewer: What is the classification Scarlett? ABA Productions: Our film is a 15 rated film, meaning only those of the age 15 and above are advised to watch our film. Interviewer : What makes your film a 15 rated film? ABA Productions: There will be some swearing Scarlett, and strong violence will be shown later in the film between Scarlett and the teenagers. Interviewer: What makes Scarlett not a 12 rated film and why did you decide to do this? ABA Productions: Scarlett has mild to strong language repeatedly; we felt that this would not be suitable for 12 to 14 year olds. The violence is a main part our film so will be showed in detail and will be strong. We decided to do this, as we know that from our research teenagers are a big audience of horror, to be precise we found that 15-25 year olds are the biggest audience, this is why we did not add the features of a certificate film 12. We also steered away from making our film an 18 as this would cut out a substantial part of our audience, which would affect the sales, and gross we make back on the film. To make sure we fit in the 15 certificate the use of strong language is not overly aggressive and all violence is shown but not in detailed gory images. Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Interviewer: What is the classification Scarlett?

ABA Productions: Our film is a 15 rated film, meaning only those of the age 15 and above are advised to watch our film.

Interviewer: What makes your film a 15 rated film?

Interviewer: What gender was Scarlett intended for if any?

ABA Productions: From secondary research we found that there wasn’t a definitive gender of the audience that watch horror films as many websites gave us different results. This wasn’t reliable enough for us so we decided that we would carry out some primary research. We produced a simple survey, which requested the gender of the person and to number the boxes 1 – 5 in the order of their preferred genre (1 – most liked and 5 – least liked). The genres included horror, comedy, crime, romance and action; we gave this to 15-25 year olds, as this is the age group we want to target.

Interviewer: What were the results of the survey?

ABA Productions: From the survey, most males put horror 2nd to 4th, with action being the most popular genre of film. Most females put horror 1st

to 3rd, showing a slightly larger fan base in females for horror, only two of the surveys came back with horror as a last choice.
