To be able to gather in depth feedback on my media projects, I created a questionnaire using google forms to achieve this. For my Music Video, I received responses from a variety of people who don’t actually listen to punk music. I felt this was needed to be able to get an honest opinion on the video instead of just liking the song due to it being punk and the respondent liking the song. 90% of responses said that the music video does fit the punk genre. This is success as then we know we are producing a video for people in the punk genre that will actually like it and relate to it. From comments made on what they liked about the video, it was clear that viewers liked the passion shown in the performance and how the editing was intense and the nature of the story. This was a man art of our video, and for it to succeed in the punk genre, we needed to make sure these elements were produced right which is clear the audience felt it was. Overall, the viewers felt there were no clear problems with the video which is great to hear. One respondent commented on how the transitions could have been smoother, so the group re looked at the video and slight edited this to make sure it was perfect.

The last screenshot shows comments made from our subject teachres on our draft version of our music video. After getting back our feedback, we were told that changes needed to be made to this narrative. We have been told that our video's narrative is to typical and predictable and that it must be more intense, unique and out of the ordinary so it will stand out. From here, we have discussed a number of ideas that we could implement to change our video:

1. Remain with the initial idea and emphasise the intensity with more shots, faster cuts and changes to editing. We will re-film shots which are necessary to have less white space and tighter framing.

2. We would take inspiration from the likes of Groundhog Day and Edge of Tomorrow and have the Hunter repeat this day over and over again, killing the same victim, progressively getting more and more tired of the repeated day, until one day (at the end of the video) he decides not to kill and he is knocked out from behind.

3. Another idea was to have two killers. Both assigned with killing the same victim. We would then have both killers stalk the victim until the end where they meet and stand-off against each other.

4. The Hunter as a kid is then shown at the end of the video, in the background of the shot, watching

Page 3: Evaluation question 3 - what have you learned from your audience feedback

the older version of himself killing the person that killed his brother. Face reveal at the end which shows it is actually the kid when he is older.

5. Another ending idea would be at the face reveal it shows that the hunter is actually the victim and he is killing himself.

6. Another idea is that towards the end of the video, The Hunter appears at the studio door where the band are recording; the band look shocked/surprised, and the scene cuts to black. Showing the perspective of the lead singer looking at the door to suggest there is two versions of himself.

6A. To lead on from this idea we could have The Hunter massacre the band

6B .Dump the victims body into the studio and then leaves.

6C. The Hunter kills himself after entering the studio.

6D. A shot is shown early on in the video showing The Hunter walking out a room which shows he killed a previous band member (mise en scene = guitar, drumsticks to show he was in the band) and then at the end the hunter turns up at the studio and kills the band.

6E. We would have a loop connecting the start and the end (the start is the end). The Hunter will come into the studio at the end and take his mask off, walk up to the mic, matching the same shot that reveals the singer at the beginning of the video.

After getting further feedback from teachers on these ideas before we decided to re shoot parts, we concluded that ending 6 would meet the comments made and make our video better. We then Remained with the initial idea and emphasised the intensity with more shots, faster cuts and changes to editing also.

This questionnaire was created to gain feedback on my magazine adverts. From this I gained responses from 70% males which fits my target market as males stereotypically would like the punk genre more. Also, 70% of people selected 11-20 years old and this is because they are in my school year being 17/18 years’ old which fits my target market also, as the music produced by the band would be aimed at this age group due to it being loud, aggressive music. This means that if positive responses are collected form the questionnaire then it must mean I have done a good design for my Magazine Adverts. 80% of respondents said that they feel my magazine adverts fit the punk genre, this is a good element as it means that what is being produced would actually be interesting to someone who likes punk music. Every respondent gave a positive comment on their first impression of the magazine adverts. 80% of responses showed that viewers of the magazine adverts felt they were rated between 9-10 out of 10 which indicates that good designs were produced and my target market are satisfied with them which is the aim of the products. On the other hand, I was given some improvements I could possibly make which would be to make writing on the designs easier to read. I listened to this and did make it a bit easier to read, however I wanted it to be a struggle to read as it links to the idea of the music video in that “The Hunter” is mysterious and people don’t know who he is. Carrying this theme in not highlighting elements clearly creates a relationship across all products.

For my CD Digipak, form my feedback from the questionnaires I learnt that 90% of responses felt the CD Digipak fits the punk genre. Which means my product should interest my target market? Most people’s first impressions were that it is intimidating and looks professional which suggests they felt it was a good design. This thought was backed up by the respondents having to rate the digipak out of 10. 90% of people gave it a score of 9-10 out of 10 which indicates only slight changes are needed of the CD Digipak to satisfy my audience fully. I was advised to make text larger so it was easier to read, which I did amend in my design. As well as this I was advised to remove text from the panel of the band members. However, I decided not to adjust my designs I felt due to the CD Digipak being the band’s first, I wanted the audience to learn more about the band and know who is who so they are able to create a relationship with their audience. The exam however was influential in my design due to their expectations of having photography on the designs. As previously I was considering to have

The screenshots below show a conversation between me and a subject teacher in media. I wanted advice concerning a couple of elements shown I the screenshots before went to perform so we didn’t get it wrong. Due to the fact that my media teacher liked punk music, he was a good person to ask and get audience feedback off. He advised us to wear the black clothing colour scheme in the performance videos, which I felt worked better as well due to the colour scheme used on the CD Digipak and Magazine adverts. The colour scheme also reflects the nature of the video also. We were also unsure on whether to use the glasses as an accessory due to the fact that it might not allow the audience create a good relationship with the band, being able to connect with them with their eyes could allow this more. However, due to the fact that various bands in the genre wear these type of glasses we decided to go ahead and used them as it gave an identifiable factor for our artists.

Review my feedback on your work.CD Digipak

Remove bio on inside cover of digipak – but add credits, song writers, musicians, producers, engineers, studio

Incorporate idea from CD disk to my creative journey.

Remove the numbers.

Record company logo needs to be bigger

Poster

Add record company logo to poster

The text “The Hunter” needs to be more legible.

From this, I learnt that overall my designing elements were fairly good II just needed to be more precise in areas and to make sure elements comply with stereotypical conventions of these products to make them seem more professional.
