1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary text? By Jack Campbell Evaluation Question 2 2. Short film My A2 Short Film recognises the conventions and ideology of crime thrillers, such as fast paced action, suspense and violence. To achieve this, I use a variety of effects to create suspense such as the heat effect on Final Cut Pro to show tension and action translating on the screen. 3. Ancillary texts My two ancillary texts were: . Promotional poster for my short film . Film magazine review DPS 4. Audience feedback Here are a variety of comments from people in my target audience age range, 18-25. I dont think that the DPS links well with the rest of the texts, but the poster is especially good as it clearly links with the film. All 3 texts link well because they all show the characters, I like how the poster and film both use the same font. All 3 texts demonstrate elements of the narrative well, you can tell they are all produced for the same promo pack I like how you used images from the short film in your two ancillary texts, it shows how they work in combination. 5. Effectiveness analysed I think that the short film is the strongest element of my A2 media portfolio, although I am also especially proud of my promotional poster. I think I liked producing the film because I also study English so I enjoy creative writing, which was producing a script meant I had to do. I wanted to convey the crime-thriller genre shown in my short film through the ancillary texts too. This would create both continuity and a kind of house style which is important and showed that I followed conventions. I needed to consider many things, including: Colours used in the texts Special effects from the film being translated to my ancillary texts Songs I would use in my short film Title of my short film and film review magazine and how they can link together Making sure my actors feature in my ancillary texts Cinematography, mise-en-scene and editing techniques Using media technologies in unique ways to show and produce my portfolio 6. How my texts work together Below I will describe and explain how my texts work together by pointing out features they share, explaining how they are conventional, showing my drafts (both hand drawn and computerised) and presenting my research and planning.
