Set – Age Group

The character, Rufus Parker is 18 years of age and has a YouTube channel. He has about 3 million subscribers and a lot of fans. He is also watched by different age groups as the audience consists of people mainly aged 16 to 26.

As many YouTube vlogers film most of their footage at home in their bedroom, we thought that it would be a great idea to film the YouTube part of the film opening in a bedroom with posters in the background of all the games that Rufus Parker would play and would like.

However, due to recasting, and a set change, this was not included in the final footage as the new set did not have enough space for these posters.

We also decided that Rufus Parker would be a huge gamer as are most teens at his age. This is not a convention of comedy films, however, one convention was that the film

needed to show early signs of it being funny, and it has, as my audience feedback says. This is a similar concept to “Wayne’s World”

Skyrim

Batman

Halo

Minecraft

Red Dead Redemption

Alienware

I though that he would own an Alienware (the most expensive type of gaming PC) because he is such an intense gamer.

Xbox 360PS3

T.V. In his bedroom

Foam swords for playing sword fighting

Sounds used to add humour and Characterisation

The sounds used in the YouTube video are meant to be put in by Rufus Parker himself. Since I am trying to portray the image that Rufus Parker is a YouTube vloger into the audience’s head, I made the video to make it look like it was produced, edited and uploaded by the character Rufus Parker himself.

The character, Rufus Parker, knows he is weird and uses this to his advantage. Although the whole idea of the film started as him not knowing this and posting this “Advise” on YouTube and becoming famous without actually knowing why he is famous. We have managed to move away form that idea and make him more aware that his is quite weird, but still think that the advise that he gives is right. This change was due to the research that I have done on other YouTubers and how they have been acting towards their audience in contrast to how they act in reality. “Pewdiepie” is a good example of this.

Some of the more comedic sounds used are the famous suspense music. I also used music that would match every part of the scene, but since every scene in a YouTube vlog is normally a couple of seconds long, then the music used was always cut of. This added a lot more comedic elements to the scenes of the Rufus Parker video.

Characters who have similar characterisation as Rufus Parker are; Fogell (McLovin) in 'Superbad' (2007), Garth Algar in 'Wayne's World' series, Augie Farks in 'Role Models' (2008) etc...
