How did you attract/address your audience?

There are stylised, eye-catching, mastheads that stand out against the backgrounds. These will grab the attention of the passers by.

Eye contact of the main image entices the reader. The top image is from my magazine and the two below are from Kerrang covers.

Such extra features interest the reader so as to get them to buy the magazine.

Text against a bright colour stands out more and encourages the reader to read the coverlines, or pick up the magazine. This means that they are more likely to buy the magazine, in the end.

The function of the front cover is to attract the attention of the target audience. This may be through bright colours, eye contact with the main image, the main image itself, the articles features, the freebies... The fact is that that is the purpose of the cover, if the reader then flicks through and is faced with consistency, they are more likely to purchase the magazine.
