• Rocket is mainly aimed at mature young people with a hint of rebellion in them, the rebellious attitude can be seen in unusual poses of my main artist and her positioning on top of the title making her seem more in control and above everything. It is also in my typography, the way it is not simple but expressing a grungy rock style, similar to KERRANG. My magazine is also unconventionally trying to reach out to more female rock listeners by having a female artist on the main cover as it is quite unusual for rock magazines. The ages of my audiences could be from the ages of 16 to 25, many of my images are those of young people around that age, mostly which are dressed casually, something that young people can correspond to. In terms of psychographics, my audiences will consist of individualists, these are individuals who want to show the world they are different which is a highlighted element in rock as artists encourage their listeners to be unique and different. This is a contrast to for example a mainstream psychographics who are likely to be people that go with the flow and don’t stand out.

AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT

This describes how my audience may choose to use my product. Some of my readers may simply buy the magazine as a form of entertainment. Others may use it as a source of information about existing artists or use it to be introduced to new ones.

AUDIENCE EXPECTATIONS

As my magazine is a rock magazine, my audience will have certain expectations. They will probably be expecting introductions of new bands. However, some of their expectations may be shattered to make a point, for example as I have chosen to use a female artist for my main cover.

AUDIENCE FOREKNOWLEDGE

This is the information that my audience will be sure about when picking up my product which is what the magazine is about (music) and the genre (rock) which is clearly displayed in the masthead.

AUDIENCE IDENTIFICATION

This is the way in which my audience will identify with my product, this will be most clear in the young artists I have used in my magazine, such as the way they dress, and music that they will have interest of beforehand.

AUDIENCE PLACEMENT

I have made my audience feel through certain strategies that the magazine is aimed at them, my main aim was to influence this at rock listeners and have used a pun in my masthead and several references to rock throughout my cover lines to make this clear.

AUDIENCE RESEARCH

This audience research was done through my questionnaires where my results showed that rock was a niche magazine in comparison to pop or hip-hop, therefore making it a gap in the market which I could use to my advantage and target at the niche audience.
