How have real film publicity campaigns influenced your own

planning?’Prior to my own film publicity campaign, I looked at

• Horror Film Magazines

• Horror Film posters

• Horror Film Trailers

Looking at these was beneficial as it showed me what the expectationswere for my own production.

What research into horror genres (and which films) have

influenced the look of your film publicity campaign?

My publicity campaign is based around a psycho-thriller genre. Films which influenced this idea are:

• The Ring

• Scream

• The others

• Psycho

As my horror genre is similar to that of these films, I was able to use them as guidelines to the elements in which my own horror movie trailer needed. (For example: Costumes, storyline and lighting’

How have you compared profiles of target audiences?

• In order to compare profiles of different target audiences, I looked at other horror trailers in order to see what they did to successfully entice viewers, prompting them to go and see the full movie. (This included the trailer for ‘Scream’)

• With this knowledge I then carried out my own research into potential audiences for my horror publicity campaign. This was done by video recorded interviews of people of different ages/genders which was then uploaded onto my blog.

• I also looked at horror posters with my group and each made judgments based on what we felt made it a good or bad film poster.

What research have you completed into certification and how did this

influence your ideas?

As certification is an important aspect of any film or trailer, I looked at different horror films and the certificates they had given their films.

I found it more helpful to look at films in which I had watched myself particularly horror films. Through this I was able to judge myself whether I felt the films were scary. Once doing this I acknowledged whether it was, the content of the film and the certificate they had placed on it and used it as a guideline when deciding the certificate of our film trailer.

We decided that our film trailer certificate will be of age:
