In Photoshop I used the adjustment tool to change the colour of the

image to black and white. I did not use any more tools because I

wanted to keep the image more natural to show how well you could

recreate an image without using Photoshop. I took the photo in the

studio room in the art department of my school. I did this because the

original photo is also taken in a room with a plain white wall. The

camera I used was the Canon EOS 600D. I liked using this camera

because I could focus in on the rings and fuzz out her face as shown in

the original image. I learned some new camera technique/skills when I

was taking the image such as the position/angle I take the photo in

and the setting I used on the camera (AV). This allowed me to use the

viewfinder on the camera to get a more detailed image.

Overall I am very pleased with my final portrait recreation. I believe

that some strengths are the use of jewellery and clothing; I tried to

copy how Rita Ora is dressed because I believed it would give a more

realistic outcome. I also like how Gaia has used the same facial

expressions and body stance, however I think that I should have use

more defined detailed like the way that Gaia is looking and I should

have focused in on her more. I think that I could have also used the

rule of thirds technique to place Gaia’s head in the top section of the

‘boxes’. If I were to redo the image I would take into account all the

weaknesses I have mentioned and work on them to make the image

closer to the original. I think that I did manage to successfully

recreate the portrait because I chose carefully where I took the image

and how I positioned Gaia.
