EVALUATION OF FRONT COVERS

IMAGE ONEMy intentions for this front cover was to promote and show college in a positive light. I did this by using a model that goes to the college and have them smiling to show that college is good and fun. This image is appropriate because I have used a teenage model who is wearing bright clothes which is used for a teenage magazine. Also, the model is holding a folder conveying that she is a student which links in with teenagers as they are at the stage of going to college. The meaning that is being created in this magazine is that college is fun and exciting.

IMAGE ONE The combination of the image and the text works well because they are all colour coordinated and they stand out, appealing to the target audience. The meaning of the text is that it signifies the fun and rebellious side of teenagers which will attract my target audience well. This is appropriate for my target audience because the magazine gives out a personality that all teenagers can relate to which will attract them to read the magazine. This fulfils my intentions because it is fun, exciting and it shows teenage life well in the sense that the model is a teenager and that it is based in a college which most teenagers are either going there or about to go there which is shown by the main cover line, ‘what college life is like…’

My intentions when I was taking this photo were to show what kind of jobs teenagers want when they leave college, and in this case it was to be a professional ruby player for Warrington Wolves. This image fulfils my intentions as I have used a teenage model which shows that it is a teenage magazine and I also got my model to wear a Warrington Wolves shirt which conveys that he likes Warrington Wolves. Because my model is an actually ruby player, I thought I would represent him to want to actually play for Warrington Wolves by wearing the shirt. This image is appropriate for the front cover of a teenage magazine because I have used a teenage model and also the colours are bright which shows the teenage personality. The meaning that is created in this image is that every teenager has an ambition to be something when they grow up and that it follows them through childhood until college where they can start reaching their goal.

My intentions when i was taking this photo were to show teenagers in a positive light and to bring out the theme of teenagers more. My final image fulfils these intentions by having a teenage model on the front cover and having him smiling to show the positivity of teenagers. The image is appropriate for the target audience because it shows the model wearing fashionable clothing which is the theme of this issue. The meaning created in this image is that teenagers like to look fashionable for a cheap price.

The combination of image and text works well because the colour of the text stands out from the light background, attracting the target audiences attention. The meaning that is created to represent teenagers as fashionable which is shown well from the models clothing. It is appropriate for the target audience because the model is a teenagers which relates to the target audience. It fulfils my intentions by again having a teenage model and also having the model smiling showing that teenagers are positive.

My intentions when taking this photo were to show what teenagers are fans of. The image is appropriate for my magazine because there is a teenage model and also it has posters of films that have a teenage fanbase, which is the theme of this issue. The meaning that s created in this image is that teenagers like films and that they can relate to certain films well.

The combination of the image and text works well because the white of the text stands out from the colourful background, appealing to the target audience. The meaning that is created is that every teenager has a favourite film that they can relate to. It is appropriate for the target audience because there is a variety of film posters behind the model which the target audience might know and relate to. It fulfils my intentions because i’ve used a teenage model who is wearing fanbase clothing which brings out the theme of this issue well.
