How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and

evaluation stages?

In post production we were able to use the text tool on the website to add the bands social media page and the names of the reviewers. We used this in order

to make a product that was believable and realistic. It gave the details to the audience so those who liked indie rock music were able to find the band on social media platforms.

picmonkey: in order to edit pictures on our poster we used picmonkey because it is a free online editing software that offered this variety of different options.

We chose this font because it was similar to those we had found in the indie rock genre, therefore easy establish in the market as it has a handwritten style which fits in with the creative-teen theme we tried to achieve.

We were also able to add different images to add to the poster and we chose to add pushpins. This fitted in with the theme of the board being a teenager notice bulletin and therefore we found it to be relevant to help conform to the conventions of the genre.

Microsoft PowerPointBy using PowerPoint we were able to add images such as 5 stars that we were able to use for the reviews of the magazines. Having reviews of the album is a convention in the genre which is why we found it necessary

Posters advertising digipaks usually include the production companies logos and their social media links. Here we had to edit them so their backgrounds were clear to fit into the theme. We used a tool on PowerPoint to achieve this. This gave it a more professional look as the background weren’t block white and they blended into the poster.

SumoPaint: is a free online editing software.

In order to fit in with the conventions of the indie rock genre we added a filter. We did this for our digipak on SumoPaint as this had a wide range of filters we were able to choose from for our genre. Also it had a layering option which meant we could mix and build on our still images to create a professional look to our product. We chose SumoPaint because it offers all the options that Photoshop has except unlike Photoshop it was free.

iMovieOn the right is an image of the editing through iMovie. The software enable us to use transitions that would create a product that was identifiable in the indie rock genre. We also were able to use a black and white filter to also aid us in this and therefore we have been able to make a successful indie rock music video. The final shot is a transition that circles in on the two girls hands showing the completeness of their new blossoming friendship.

We used the editing software to slowdown scenes. In the part where the victim is putting up pictures of her idol we have slowed down the pace. This is because we wanted to use on-beat editing and also because it was sending the message of her longing to be like a normal girl.

We were able to pair the audio alongside the music video so we could use on beat editing. This is a common theme amongst music video as it creates a relationship that is therefore emphasising the song. We did this in our own music video therefore to conform to the characteristics and to express the narrative of bullying. We used iMovie on a MacBook because we found it to be convinent as we could use it whenever we want and therefore re-film and edit parts in our own time. It also had these programmes and it was easy to use as we’ve used them in our AS studies. This meant we only had to develop our ideas.

In order to publish our media product we used YouTube. We chose this because it is free and a popular website used to upload music videos. To do this we just uploaded our finished music video from the iMovie file.

To film our media music video we used an iPhone 6. This is because it was convenient as we always had priority over using them and it also meant that we could re film parts whenever we needed too. The camera quality had 1.5-micron pixels and ƒ/2.2 aperture, which enabled our video to look professional.

The final way in which we have used the internet in the construction process of our media studies course is through iTunes. We had to purchase the song in able to put it into the background of our music video. We chose this song because it was in our chosen genre which is indie rock. We also therefore had to use email to email the production companies to ask for permission to use the song. We bought it from iTunes because it is a trustworthy distributor.
