stages?Conor Willis

Physical Technologies.

• Camera - Canon Legria FS200

The camera has 41x zoom, and also an electronic stabiliser. Mics were an optional extra, but they were not needed because the music was not live.

The majority of filming was done using a tripod to create a steady picture

The Computer and Software• The iMac that I used was

an upgrade to the ones used last year.

Editing software used was Final Cut Express 4.

As well as this, I used the application Toast in order to convert the movie files from .MOV to dv (Digital Video) files.

How I improved on my ediing.

• Whilst the process of editing was not new to me, the A2 coursework offered more challenges, and working on my own allowed me to try new things.

Lip Synching - the most difficult part of the process. In this, I had to try and match what the actor was saying in tie with the vocals, this meant a lot of minute cuts, which were painstakingly put together in an attempt to make the process smooth s possible.

Effects - The band I am creating a music video for traditionally creates videos filled with effects such as blurs, colour balances and mirrored frames, made to look fragmented.

I followed these conventions in my video, and added some more of my own, including strobing, and the lights blinking

Fragmented frame

Colour balance is changed to make the video blue

The Internet - Distribution

• Social Networking sites were very important in the process of gaining feedback. The first draft was uploaded onto Youtube, and Twitter.

• The second draft was added to both sites, and also facebook.

The Internet - Production

This involved using sites including; Scribd, Slideshare, and also Prezi as more interesting methods of presenting my work.

Scribd publishes word documents online.Slideshare is a Powerpoint based website, where you can upload Powerpoint presentations and

embed them onto blogs etc.Prezi uses mor pictorial matheds to present, ad te zooming and moving transitions make the

presentation more interesting. As well as this, I used the site voicethread – in which you can film yourself talking about what it is you

are in the process of doing.

The Internet -Research and Planning

For creating items such as my band’s logo, I used the website Pixlr, which is an online application where you can create and edit pictures. Also, I used Google Images in order to collect institutional logos and the Q code used on my poster.

Other Computer Applications

• iMovie - an application found on Apple iMacs, which allows you to record yourself, and edit it alongside frames of text and images.

• Photoshop – I used to different photoshop, Adobe Photoshop elements at home, and at school; Adobe Photoshop CS5.

My Blog• Finally, the website that I used for my blog

changed, instead of using Blogger, I decided to change to Posterous Spaces.

• Posterous allows more options, it embeds your films that you have created offline as well as online. As well as this, it negates the use of some applications such as Scribd because it uploads word documents.

Conclusion

• Whilst several of the applications used for my A2 were the same as in AS level, my knowledge of how to use these had increased.

• For Example, my knowledge of how to use editing software such as Final Cut allowed me to use it with more confidence, and allowed me to experiment with effects.
