LONELY BOYEVALUATION TASK 2 // how effective is the

combination of your main product and ancillary texts

After the introduction of the music video, you see 2 titles appear. It is clear in these themes that the colour scheme of our music video and ancillary texts is black and white. We also went for a font called “Bebas Neue” which was a thick font. This font was repeated through the music video and the ancillary texts. This obviously represents the genre of the song, music video and ancillary texts to be rock, with a clear theme of minimalism through the monochrome theme. It’s a simple, strong design which we were able to change and adapt to fit to the necessary ancillary text. This is the same theme that is seen within the poster, the same font with the same colour scheme.

The music video also works with the ancillary texts in that the branding is kept the same throughout. The

same elephant productions logo is present throughout the music video and the ancillary texts. It is also seen on the back cover of the digipak. It is always seen in

black and white, a common theme seen throughout our project, furthering the idea of the monochrome black

and white style.

The mis-en-scene is very important throughout the production and it is seen similarly in both the music video and the ancillary texts. He wears the same outfit throughout the whole production, including the ancillary texts, which is a very simple outfit but represents rock and roll.

This screenshot shows the strong link between the music video and the ancillary texts. He is wearing the same costume, with the same props and mis-en-scene. In both of the music video and the ancillary texts; it is clear that he is the main character.

This music video and ancillary tasks make

obvious sense with historical

links; in that you can see elements of rock vibes from

the 70’s-90’s, through his outfit

of converses, sunglasses,

simple clothing etc. This is also

the same costume shared in the ancillary

texts.

Throughout the media task and the ancillary texts, it is evident what kind of character Harry is. He is rarely looking at the same, instead he

looks very distant and cool, almost uninterested in the attention. This goes hand in hand with the idea of the rock and roll scene shown. Equally, the colours throughout the music video and the ancillary texts are vert similar. Although they are

not black and white, they are still cold and muted. This goes alongside our rock and roll vibe

video and is present in each of our ancillary texts.
