SYNOPSISA young girl has a dream of her own murder in the future. This leads her to avoid the scene where it was going to take place.

Throughout the film she tries to discover why she was planned to be murdered and discover the true identity of the murderer.

However the young girl even begins to question her own identity.

PlotWe plan our sequence to be located in a car park, with the protagonist as a young girl who is confused when she wakes up from a dream. In

her dream, our protagonist will be walking to a particular location in the car park using stairs and a lift. As she is walking into the car park she sends a text to an unknown person saying “I’m here, where are you?”

which creates a enigma for the audience. In the car park she will end up feeling herself getting killed and then see herself dead, which will

massively shock her. She then wakes up from her dream. Continuing on with her day, the protagonist then walks past the car park and is given a shock when she cones to a realization that her dream was located in the exact car park and due to this she does not want to go in as it may lead to her death. Also, someone who looks like just like her comes up to her shouting and demanding saying ”What are you doing, don’t go in there,

you know what happens!” This leaves an exciting question for the audience- could this be her dead self? Or could this lookalike even be her

unknown twin? Or could it be her guilty conscience?

Characters / AttitudesOur protagonist is a young female, in the same age range of our target audience (this being 16-24

year olds), her appearance includes dark and dull clothing which contains familiar brands to our audience, such as ‘Adidas’ and ‘Vans’. This entices the audience in and creates a stronger

relationship with the character. The dark clothing suggests an inner darkness to the protagonist but also connotes death. The grey jacket also connotes a halfway point between life and death; grey is in between black and white. The white shoes also connote innocence- does the young girl

deserve to die? However, her innocence is still questioned.

The protagonists personality is extremely skittish, cautious and apprehensive which emphasizes dramatic tension throughout the opening sequence, making the audience feel somewhat on edge too. She is always on high alert as she experiences frequent paranoia, yet doesn’t trust her natural

instincts.

South London is where our protagonist is from, which is a well known and popular area, especially with our target audience. Because of her location, this effects her dialogue.

TARGET AUDIENCE PROFILEOur target audience is 16-24 year olds. We have chosen this age range

as this is a similar age to our characters in our film, enabling the audience to easily relate with the protagonist.

We also want the audience to become engaged and interested in the protagonist to explore their characteristics and identity. We plan to

denote the protagonist using an iphone. This would enable the audience to build a relationship with the protagonist as mobile

phones, particularly the brand ‘Apple’ is very popular in this age range. We also plan to include product placement by using well-known

popular brands in the 16-24 age range to ensure the audience can build a relationship with the protagonist. We will use brands such as

‘Adidas’ and ‘Vans’ to achieve this.

IconographyIn our opening sequence we plan to use certain aspects of

iconography used in psychological thrillers. We will use stair banisters to evoke a feeling of entrapment and

isolation of the protagonist; she is trapped in a possible fate. We will also use reflections, achieved through mirrors.

Reflections convey a split personality and an inner self. In our opening sequence, the use of our protagonists reflection will

connote her living self and dead self. It also connotes how she may have an inner darkness which she does not portray. The

audience may believe she has an inner darkness because perhaps she has done something terrible for someone wanting to kill her.

LocationPsychological thrillers usually use modern urban

locations to connote a sense of realism and it also questions where the danger will come from.

Therefore, we are using a setting of a car park for our opening sequence. Also, the car park has a sinister atmosphere to it as it id dark and dirty.

It also has a lot of leading lines connoting that the protagonist is perhaps being led to her

death.

Relevant filmsFilms that have inspired and relate to our film are Psycho and

final destination. This is because Psycho is a psychological thriller and we are going to include particular techniques that the film

have used, such as the time and date written on the establishing shot. Final Destination relates to our film because it follows the

same plot of avoiding death.
