FRIT 8435 Assignment #2
Evaluability Assessment Checklist
Group 4 Amy Womack, Rachel Stewart & Jeff Johnson
Questions Answer Justification
1. Is there a contractual requirement
to evaluate?
No There is not a contractual
requirement to evaluate. This is a
service offered to students to
increase their performance in math.
2. Does the object of the evaluation
have enough impact or importance to
warrant formal evaluation?
Yes Data shows that the use of IPass, for
the purpose of remediation, has a
significant impact on student
achievement in math. Because math
is an essential skill, it is vital that
students learn basic skills early and
progress successfully in the area of
math.
3. Is there sufficient consensus
among stakeholders on the model for
the program? Its goals and
objectives?
Yes All stakeholders (parents, students,
teachers, and administrators) are
interested in the performance of the
students in the hope that the program
will increase scores in the area of
mathematics. Math is an essential
element in education; one that is thefoundation for other skills.
4.If the program has begun, are its
actions consistent with the program
model? Is achievement of goals
feasible?
Yes The program began in late August
when students first logged into the
IPass program and completed the
placement test. The program model
is setup to assess, prescribe,
instruct, and report on each student
taking part in the program. The
goal for each student is to be on or
above his or her grade level beforethe end of the school year. This goal
is possible when students go to the
computer lab at their scheduled times
each week.
5.Is the proposed evaluation feasible Yes This evaluation will be conducted

given existing human and fiscal
resources and data availability?
internally. No outside human
resources will be needed. There is
ample data collected from prior years
of implementation to help determine
the programs validity. Stakeholder
interviews will also provide additional
resources.
6.Do the major stakeholders agree
on the intended use of the
evaluation?
Yes The stakeholders do agree that a
program is needed in the subject
area of math for the purpose of
remediation. Administrators,
parents,and teachers support the
idea of increasing student
performance in math. iPASS
conveys the curriculum and gives the
student just the right amount of
instruction and practice needed to
comprehend and retain the concepts
being taught. The purpose behindiPass is to identify specific learning
gaps and target those gaps to build
mastery before moving on to new
material.
7.Are the stakeholders in a position
to use the information productively?
Yes iPASS conveys the curriculum and
gives the student just the rightamount of instruction and practice
needed to comprehend and retain
the concepts being taught.Thepurpose behind iPass is to identify
specific learning gaps and target
those gaps to build mastery before
moving on to new material. Students
have scheduled times to log in to
iPass on a daily basis. The iPass
system keeps track of results and
reports them to the teacher on

stakeholders be made exclusively on
other bases and be uninfluenced by
the evaluation data?

The information gathered from the
evaluation will illustrate the impact of
iPass on student performance.
9.Is it likely that the evaluation will
provide dependable information?
Yes The information provided by the
evaluation will be solid because the
evaluation is being conducted using
past performance data. Comparing
the results to past performance data
in math, the evaluation will confirm
that iPass has an impact on student
achievement tests in mathematics.
10.Is the evaluation likely to meet
acceptable standards of propriety?
Yes Student achievement is a priority for
all administrators. The reason for
evaluations in the educational system
is to ensure the success of students.
The iPass program is customized to
assist students in mastering math
content per grade level and to ensure
their success on the CRCT. The
evaluation of the IPASS program is
to assist the effectiveness of the
program in deciding what is best forthe students.
