1 EuroPris Conference and AGM, Brussels, 26 th November 2013 PRACTICAL INFORMATION Getting to Brussels By airplane Brussels Airport (www.brusselsairport.be), situated at Zaventem, is linked to the centre of Brussels (14 km) by: Rail service: the Brussels Airport Express train leaves the airport four times an hour, taking passengers to Bruxelles Nord, Bruxelles Centrale and Bruxelles Midi train stations. The station is to be found at level -1 of the airport. A single train ticket costs approximately 7.80 €. For further information see: www.b-rail.be Bus service: the Airport Line bus takes only 30 minutes between Brussels and the city centre. The bus station is to be found at level 0 of the airport, i.e. one floor lower than the arrivals hall. In the middle of the bus station there are three separate platforms. The Airport Line buses (no.12 and no. 21) leave from platform C. Bus 12 operates from Monday to Friday up to 20h (after 20h, at weekends and on public holidays, take bus 21). Price of Airport Line bus tickets: - single ticket purchased prior to embarking: 4.00 - single ticket purchased on bus: 6.00 At the airport, you can buy a ticket before getting on the bus at the “GOautomatic vending machine, to be found on platform C at the bus station. You can use debit cards (Maestro), credit cards and coins to buy tickets at the “GOs at Schuman and at the airport. The going rate between the airport and the centre of Brussels is approximately 45.00 €. To reach Place du Sablon from the airport, take a taxi or a direct train at level -1 of the airport. After 17 minutes, get off at Bruxelles-Central. Then walk 300m on boulevard de l'Empereur, then take a left until Place du Sablon. The NH Hôtel du Grand Sablon is found opposite of Zavel church.

By train Bruxelles-Midi station can be accessed by Thalys, Eurostar, TGV and ICE. The station is also linked to the centre of Brussels by: A rail service: Bruxelles-Midi station is only a two-minute train ride from Bruxelles-Central train station. By car

It is easy to reach Brussels from neighbouring countries by road. From Paris, it takes approximately 3 hours to get to the Belgian capital via the A1 direction Lille then the E19 direction Brussels.

To facilitate your arrival in Brussels, a number of stewards holding the Conference logo will be at the airport and Brussels Midi train station to guide you.

Getting around in Brussels

By underground, tram, bus (Map of the Brussels underground on page 9)

The STIB, Société des Transports Intercommunaux Bruxellois, is responsible for most of the public transport in the Brussels-Capital region. The timetables are posted at each underground, tram and bus stop. Tickets can be bought in the underground stations, at the “GO” vending machines to be found at certain stops or on the trams and buses.

- 1 single ticket (purchased prior to boarding): 2.00 € - 1 single ticket (purchased after boarding): 2.50 € - 5 JUMP tickets: 7.70 € - 10 JUMP tickets: 13.50 € - 1 JUMP day ticket: 6.50 €

JUMP tickets allow you to travel, and change to another line, on the entire STIB network, except the Brussels Airport line, i.e. lines 12 and 21 (special rates).

By taxi Taxis in Brussels are black and there is a black and yellow chequered stripe with two irises, symbolising the Brussels-Capital Region, on each of their four doors. Taxi rates depend on the distance between where you are picked up and where you are dropped off. It also depends on your final destination. Here are the details of the charges (service, VAT. and tip included in the price indicated on the meter): - Pick-up charge: 2.40 € - Fee I (applicable in the 19 municipalities of Brussels Capital Region): 1.80 €/km - Fee II (outside the 19 municipalities): 2.70 €/km - Each hour spent waiting: 30.00 €/hour - Between 22h and 6h: supplementary charge of 2.00 € There is no extra charge for luggage. By bicycle There are 180 “Villo” bike-docking stations spread over the city which provide bikes for your use in Brussels. “Villo” is a very straightforward self-service bike rental system that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can use your bank card (Mastercard, Visa, Maestro) to purchase a “Villo” ticket, which is valid for 1 or 7 days. You can rent a bike as often as you want during the period for which your ticket is valid. The first half-an-hour of each trip is free of charge. If you keep the bike for more than 30 minutes you will pay according to the length of time you use the bike. The following are examples of “Villo” stations close to the city centre: - Station n° 6: Boulevard de l’Impératrice (in front of the main train station) - Station n° 11: Rue de la Régence 20 (Grand-Sablon) Take a bike at one station and return it to another. On foot In Brussels, it is easy to get from one place to another on foot.
