• „The Schengen Area is a group of 26 European countries which have abolished (zrušit) passport and immigration controls at their common borders. It functions as (slouží jako) a single country for international travel purposes (účely), with a common visa (víza) policy. The Area is named after the town of Schengen in Luxembourg where the Schengen Agreement, which led to the Area's creation, was signed. Joining Schengen entails (vnitřních) eliminating internal border controls with the other Schengen members, while simultaneously strengthening (posílení) external (vnějších) border controls with non-Schengen states.“

• If a state wants to entre the EU, it has to keep some criterions:– Have democratic policy– Respect citizens´ rights– Has good economy– Agree with principals of EU

• I think that EU helps us to have better economy and gives us a lot of experiences to deal with many important countries. It helps with economy problems (Greece, Spain), saves our historical riches.

• There are also disadvantages of EU. Some states have private agriculture and only some states can export their ware.

• And the last opinion is, that I don’t want the Euro. I like our own currency and for old generations it can be hard to calculate with Euro.

• Questions:• Is 12 stars a number of member countries?• Name 6 original member states.• Name some EU principals.• Have all states got Euro? What is different on

euro coins?• Debate: What do you think is a Eurozone?

Would you like to have Euro as our currency?
