Applicants to any participating club - those who have not yet finalised their membership process - may contact the secretaryof the host club for a special invitation to events. HISTORY OF THE KONINKLIJKEINDUSTRIEELE GROOTE CLUB

In 1788 a reading company was founded in Amsterdam called Doctrina et Amicitia. The members were patriots, mostly from the Amster-dam merchants, judges, notaries and civil servants. As a political company, they should not hold meetings but as a readership they gathered regularly. Doctrina et Amicitia had a large library of 8000 titles, a large part of which has been preserved.

In 1872, the Societé de Groote Club was founded in the building, and in 1922, Doctrina et Amicitia merged with the Groote Club, after which the name Societeite De Groote Club Doctrina et Amicitia was used.The Groote Club builidng was designed by the architects Theodoor Gerard Schill and D.H. Haverkamp in 1912 on the corner of the Dam and

the Kalverstraat. The first original drawings were rejected by the Dam Council Committee, but in 1914 the building was apporved and completed.

During the Second World War the building was seized by the Germans. It was then sold to The Netherlands (National Netherlanden) in 1945 with the word promise that it could be bought back after the war.After the war, the Club was unable to buy the building, after which the Club rented the building until 1975, the year in which the Club merged with the Industrial Club, which was founded in 1913. Since this merger,the name The Industrial Groote Club is being used.

Global fight against A.L.S.: Gold Alliance has a self-imposed will to fight A.L.S. across the globe hence,it will allocate a percentage of the revenue of the most costly event to a local foundation that supports

ALS ill people.
