Day 1 – 26 October 2018, Industry visit Partners arrived in Lisbon, Portugal, the evening of 25th October 2018, coming from

Alesund, Norway. The group was constituted by a total of 25 participants from India,

Nepal, Uganda and 2 from Norway. The two-day program included 29 participants,

namely students, industry representatives and University educators.

The Industry case program chosen, according to the preferences of the participants, was

to visit to a cement company in Setúbal, located in the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park.

At 8’o clock of 26th October, the group attend the bus at IST entrance, and was driven to

Setúbal, Outão, located 50km south Lisbon, to visit Secil Cement Company.

A brief presentation of the Secil group was carried out by the person in charge, on the

meeting room.

Secil is an international company known by its concerns about environmental quality.

The group visited the quality control laboratory, and the operations room of the factory.

After extraction of raw materials is done the landscape recovery, using autochthonous

species, as well as the study of flora and fauna. In addition to the measures of

Environmental Impact Study (EIA), Secil has also an air quality network station, taking into

account the pollutants analysed (NO2 and SO2).

The visit to Secil finished and after we were going to lunch, offered by IST, in Setúbal.

After lunch we visited the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park.

Day 2 – 27 October 2018, Industry presentation & Internal Project Meeting

In the morning of the 2nd day, in the campus of IST, the participants had the opportunity

to hear a presentation from 3Drivers, a Portuguese Consultancy Company with great

experience in sustainability projects for the Portuguese Environmental Agency, the Asian

Bank of Development. The use of sustainability tools was strongly focused.

After this presentation, the Coordinator, Prof. Annik Fet, began the second part of the

program, the Internal Project Meeting. Partners from Uganda Nepal and India did their

presentations

The group had a working lunch, offered by 3Drivers, where the participants had the

opportunity to follow a good discussion with the representative of 3Drivers.
