Iproteos is a biotechnology company founded in 2011 as a spin-off from the University of Barcelona and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Barcelona. It was founded by Prof. Ernest Giralt and Dr. Teresa Tarragó. The activity of Iproteos is R&D of new therapeutic strategies based on peptidomimetics. The novel entities are obtained thanks to IPROTech, a proprietary and versatile platform that encompasses computational chemistry, peptide synthetic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. IPROTech is the base of the company, used to enrich Iproteos pipeline, which is centred on schizophrenia, epilepsy, atherosclerosis, and paediatric cancer. The objective of the company is to advance projects until a mature clinic phase stage, moment when the project will be licensed to a large pharmaceutical company. Iproteos has collaborated with many international companies and research institutions. The project on Schizophrenia is the most advanced, being in regulatory preclinical phase at the moment. The Epilepsy program has received funding from H2020, in a project led by the University College of London (UCL). Projects on Paediatric cancer and Atherosclerosis are being developed in collaboration with two relevant research institutes of Spain (VHIR and CSIC-IIBB, respectively). In addition, we have worked for other companies in order to design peptidomimetics. The peptidomimetics designed by Iproteos are able to modulate the activity of difficult targets, such as Protein-Protein Interactions (PPIs) involved in many diseases. JOB OPPORTUNITIES
We are looking for experts in peptide chemistry, with background in Chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry to perform a drug discovery project. The employee will be responsible for his/her own scientific project and will be under the supervision of Iproteos Chief Scientific Officer. Together with the CSO, the employee will be involved in the scientific evaluation of projects and in the decision taking. The candidate should demonstrate ability to plan peptide synthesis routes and to obtain the material in a fast manner with the higher quality. Furthermore, the employee shall perform reports on the performed worked in a periodic manner. Iproteos is a highly dynamic company, with several projects in parallel and therefore, the employee will participate in various projects that will be coordinated by the Project Manager. Requisites: Minimum experience of 2 years in peptide synthesis is required. Experience on protein expression, and in vitro techniques for evaluation of compounds will be a plus. conceptualization, design, programming and testing of a new platform devoted to oncology
services. This will be a web-based interface integrated in our Genomcore Suite that will integrate
