Germany invades with 53 Divisions!!!
German forces advance and crush the Polish defenses.

9 am. Britain and France send an ultimatum to Hitler
Pull out of Poland by 11 am or face war.

September 17, 1939
Stalin attacks from the east wanting his part of Poland (land lost in 1917)
Appears to France & Great Britain that the Soviets are fighting the Nazis (but they actually met up and shook hands!)
Remember the Non-Aggression Pact??
September 19, 1939 Poland surrenders to

1940: The Lowlands
April 1940 Germany invades Denmark and then Norway.
All were needed for an invasion of France and Great Britain
The Invasion of France
THE PLAN Fake an attack through
Belgium (like WWI) Real attack was to
come from the South and in the Alsace Forest
The Invasion begins
May 9th 1940 Germany invades Belgium.
French and British troops take the bait and head north to Belgium
Real attack then goes through the Arden, north of Maginot Line, May 10th
Dunkirk
By June 1st 1940 the Allied armies were surrounded by the Germans out side the French port town of Dunkirk.
They barely escaped
The French Surrender: June 21, 1940
French ask for an Armistice and then signs surrender.
Hitler is leader of the German delegation
