Day-by-Day-Itinerary

DAY 1 - TRAVEL TO AMSTERDAMYour adventure begins as you depart by overnight flight to the “city below sea level” – Amsterdam.Meals: In-flight

DAY 2 - AMSTERDAM The hotel is available for check-in after 2:00 pm. You are in for a real treat in the land of windmills and tulips. Leisure time before making new friends this evening at our orientation and Dutch-Indonesian “Rice Table” welcome dinner and a relaxing ride in the glass-covered boat through Amsterdam’s flower-lined canals.Meals: In-flight, Dinner

DAY 3 - AMSTERDAMLet the good times roll during an optional bike ride through 13th century Dutch fishing villages along the Ijssel Lake beaches. Watch wooden shoes being carved and sample Edam cheese at a cheese farm. During free time in Amsterdam consider touring the Van Gogh or Rijksmuseum with Rembrandt’s “Night Watch,” the Anne Frank house or shop for famous Delftware china.Meals: Breakfast.Optional activity: Dutch country side excursion

DAY 4 - AMSTERDAM – GERMANY’S RHINE VALLEYCross the German border into Cologne, famous for the world’s largest Gothic cathedral that took over 600 years to complete. From Cologne we cruise down the fabled Rhine River past steeply sloped vineyards, medieval castles, and the legendary Lorelei Rock. Tonight, enjoy traditional German fare.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 5 - RHINE VALLEY - MUNICH This morning, we continue to the Bavarian capital of Munich, host city of the Oktoberfest, where we’ll see the Glockenspiel chimes in the Town Hall Square and the world-renowned Hofbräuhaus.Meals: Breakfast

DAY 6 - MUNICH – INNSBRUCK - AUSTRIAN ALPS We drive along the “Romantic Road” past the Bavarian lake district and the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain, to Innsbruck, sur-rounded by majestic snowcapped mountain peaks. Visit the Golden Roof of Friedrich the Penniless, the Royal palace and the giant Olympic Ski Jump. Enjoy a dinner of Austrian specialties tonight.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 7 - AUSTRIAN ALPS – VENICEThe snow-covered peaks of the Alps loom above us as we journey over the Brenner Pass. We’ll leave the mountains behind as we enter sunny Italy and arrive in Venice on the Adriatic Sea. Here we’ll walk through narrow streets and alleys lined with old-world shops and watch skilled artisans in a Murano glass-blowing workshop make Venetian glass. A trip along the Grand Canal fills us with the romance, mystery and intrigue of Old Venice. Leisure time may find you on a gondola gliding past moonlit palaces. Meals: Breakfast

DAY 8 - VENICE - ROME“The Highway of the Sun” weaves its way through medieval hillside villages to the Eternal City of Rome. Tonight indulge in a lavish Roman Banquet complete with mouth-watering Italian specialties and wine. Then our illumination drive takes us by this fascinating city’s ancient ruins.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 9 - ROMEA free day in Rome to view the Colosseum where gladiators fought to death and the Forum Romanum where Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C. Consider a visit to Vatican City, the world’s smallest state, to visit

St. Peter’s Basilica housing Michelangelo’s magnificent “Pieta.” Stop to throw 3 coins in the Trevi Fountain to ensure your return to Rome.Meals: BreakfastOptional activity: City tour of Rome with local historian

DAY 10 - ROME - FLORENCEWe journey through the Chianti vineyards to the cultural magnificence of Florence, birthplace of Michelangelo. We’ll follow our art historian guide past the Ponte Vecchio bridge, the Gates of Paradise, Giotto’s Belltower and more. After sundown, you can watch the carnival of street performers at the piazza del Duomo. Get ready for an optional dinner of pure Italian delights at a rustic Florentine trattoria tonight. DAY 11 - FLORENCE – SWISS ALPSFrom Piazzale Michelangelo, we view the sunlit rooftops of Florence and bid her a fond adieu. Today, experience another dramatic change of scenery as our motor coach continues on our way to the Swiss Alps. Climb high over the St. Gotthard Pass surrounded by snow-dusted peaks and chalet-studded valleys below. On the other side of the pass is the Four Forest Cantons Lake whose shore leads us to the land of William Tell and shops filled with Swiss watches and chocolates.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 12 - SWISS ALPS – Train to PARISEnjoy some leisure time this morning before boarding our train to Paris, the “City of Romance.” Our route takes us through the Swiss border town of Basel into France where we’ll pass quaint chateaux and Burgundy vineyards. Consider joining our optional can-can Cabaret Show tonight.Meals: BreakfastOptional activity: French cabaret

DAY 13 - PARISAn introduction to Paris’ familiar landmarks takes us past the Opéra, the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, as well as the hunchback “Quasimodo’s” beloved Notre Dame. We’ll also visit a local perfume center. Spend the free afternoon exploring the Paris that appeals to you most: cultural Paris including the Louvre Museum or fashionable Paris with Cardin. Sampling pastries goes with either choice. Enjoy French cuisine at our bistro dinner tonight followed by a cruise on a glass-topped “bateau” gliding down the Seine through the heart of the city. Meals: Breakfast, Farewell dinner

DAY 14 - TRAVEL HOME or continue to LONDON via EUROSTARFor some of us the tour of Europe ends in Paris this morning. Bid farewell to friends and ‘à bientôt’ to France before jetting back home with memories to last a lifetime. For the rest of us: The Eurostar train whisks us to London in under 3 hours. Upon arrival, take advantage of your 24-hour hop-on hop-off bus ticket to explore London town on your own. See Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. Tonight, consider a West End Show or go hobnob-bing with royalty at a posh night club.Meals: Breakfast

DAY 15 - LONDONEnjoy a day at your leisure and further explore the city of pomp and pageantry with your bus ticket. Visit one of London’s many fabulous museums or take a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. Last minute shopping at Harrod’s in the fashionable area of Knightsbridge is a must. Tonight’s farewell fish & chips dinner will be at a typical British pub.Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 16 - TRAVEL HOMEYour land tour ends with breakfast this morning. Europe’s scenic vistas melt into the distance as we head for home.Meals: Breakfast, In-flight

Terms and Conditions - EXCLUSIONS: These prices do not include passport and, if applicable, visa fees (Depending on your nationality, you may require visas in addition to a passport to enter certain countries. FLIGHT DELAYS – ALL AIRPORTS: In the event that airline schedule changes or delays force you to miss your airport transfer, just make your way to the first hotel listed on your hotel list. Many shuttle services are available as well as taxi or train options. As airline delays are beyond the control of AESU, additional expenses, if incurred, will be borne by the tour participant. (Save receipts for possible reimbursement by airline.) AESU is not responsible if an airline cancels, reschedules, or delays a flight for any reason. If you miss your departure flight, it is your responsibility to work with the airline on which you are ticketed to reach your destination. AESU is not responsible for any additional expenses you may incur prior to joining your trip. AESU is not responsible for and will not provide any refund for portions of trips missed due to canceled, rescheduled, or delayed flights. All programs start in Europe ONE DAY LATER THAN the USA departure dates listed. Participants should limit themselves to one checked bag per person and one carry-on per person. Liability is clearly stated on the passenger contract. RESPONSIBILITY: The responsibility of AESU Alumni World Travel and the Sponsoring Association is limited. They act only in the capacity of agents for the passenger in all matters pertaining to accommodations, sightseeing and transportation whether by railroad, motorboat, motorcar, steamship or plane, and as such they shall not be liable for any personal injury, death, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity which may be occasioned, whether by reason of any defect in any vehicle, or through the acts or default of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger, or in carrying out the arrangement of the tour. They can accept no responsibility for strike, war, quarantine, weather and any other natural or unnatural causes. Additional expenses, if incurred under any of these circumstances, will be borne by the tour participant. By forwarding the deposit, the passenger certifies that he/she has no physical, mental or other condition or disability that would create a hazard for himself/ herself or other passengers & accepts the terms of this contract. The right is reserved to decline, accept or retain any person as a member of the tour or to cancel or alter the tour as required. If improvements in the itinerary can be made, or unforeseen conditions beyond AESU Alumni World Travel’s control make changes necessary, they reserve the right to alter itineraries without penalty. Trip cancellation insurance should be purchased by the individual traveler in the event cancellation of the tour is compelled by circumstances beyond our control. In the event of cancellation due to insufficient number of participants, AESU Alumni World Travel’s liability shall be limited to a FULL REFUND of all payments received from applicants, except non-refundable airfare and insurance. Baggage and personal injury are at owner’s risk entirely. The issuance or acceptance of vouchers or tickets shall be considered consent of the above conditions. AESU Alumni World Travel reserves the right to increase the program price in the event of cost increases due to changes in airfares, currency fluctuations or fuel surcharges. The airlines concerned and their affiliates and agents are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time passengers are not on board the aircrafts. The passenger ticket in use by said airlines, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and the purchaser of these tickets and/or the passenger. All services are subject to the laws of the country in which these services are rendered. No refund or allowance will be made for absence during the tour, or for activities missed, even if for causes beyond the control of the participant.
