Lightning Protection -

EURO ENGINEERING has been in providing lightning protection solutions

across Bulgaria, Romania, Albania & other EU nations with both conventional

systems as well as Early Streamer Emission (ESE) technology system

manufactured with an award-winning patented design. The credit for this

remarkable achievement goes to the design team under leadership of Managing

Director – Hristomir Ivanov Nikolaev. The materials meet and exceed the

guidelines given in NFC 17-102( 2011) and EN 62305 (1-4) standards, for using

air terminals and down conductors with earthing systems.

MESSAGE FROM HRISTOMIR NIKOLAEV

At the outset I would like to thank you for taking time

out to read this few lines. The product EUROSTAR has

been developed and manufactured with keeping in

mind practical considerations of generating a stronger

& longer upward streamer with electro-magnetic

charged ions found usually at the clouds. The 6-

auxiliary rods generate that extra mili-voltage that feeds

the main rod, is a patented design. You will happy to

note that EUROSTAR design is registered with

European Union Intellectual Property Registration Office

this year, for lightning protection equipments & its

various applications.

The installation procedures we mandate is as per EN

62305 and Bulgaria’s own Lightning protection code

was given our due considerations. EURO ENGINEERING

was given NATO NCAGE vendor supplier code as far

back as 2005. Our manufacturing facilities are active

since last 10 years.

The unique patented design of

ESE air terminal

06 auxiliary rods -

EUROSTAR is patented design, that is unique and far

more scientific than any other ESE system developed

in the world so far. The auxiliary rods create additional

charged electro-magnetic ions that attach to the main

rod for a longer and more powerful upward streamer.

The insulating areas are clearly visible that help the

current flow towards the down conductors for effective

earthing terminations.

WHY A STRONGER UPWARD STREAMER MATTERS

The principle of an upward streamer attaching itself to the downward streamer

that generates from the clouds carrying charged atmospheric particles will be

successful only with a stronger and more longer streamers as there is severe

competition from other conductive surfaces that provide similar favourable

conditions. Hence for higher probability success of upward streamer to attach in

an micro-second does require it to be longer and stronger, which is exactly the

auxiliary rods are designed to deliver. The severe thunderstorms may result in

repeated lightning strikes over the same area, a single rod will have limited

success or worse may not be able to recharge itself in short time. The success

of multiple rods are a proven design even from a conventional air terminal point

of view. The electromagnetic atmospheric charges are always looking to attach

itself to sharp pointed tips to start ionization, hence multiple points are always a

preferable approach than a single point approach. The coverage radius of

EUROSTAR far exceeds the radius mentioned in NFC 17-102 (2011) but we

adhere to the maximum radius as mentioned in the code, for universal approval.

The LCD display Counter is Resettable & usually housed in

IP65 Box (DIN RAIL) provides count of number of strikes. The

simple, easy to install counter is resettable, normally comes

in 03 digits – 999 max count. Once the count is finished then a

simple button push resets it back to 0. The easy lightweight

counter comes at an additional price.

Air Terminals/ Accessories -

EUROSTAR offers interception air rods are designed to

provide a fast and easy solution to protecting rooftop

installations, like air conditioning units or solar panels, from

a direct lightning strike, all in accordance with IEC/BS EN

62305:2006.

Offering a choice of copper, aluminium or stainless steel

with aluminium tip, these free standing interception air rods use concrete blocks to secure them to the roof

surface, minimising the time and effort needed by the installer. Rod height and wind loading are the important

factors when choosing an appropriate interception air rod. Wind loading becomes more relevant for taller

interception air rods (3 m and above), where selection is by wind zone.

The straightforward design of this multi-component system enables rapid installation of interception air rods to

protect rooftop and exposed equipment from lightning damage.
