1. Period 1969 - 1979 1969 ���� Government issued the policy to introduce the importation of vehicles ( in the form of CBU & CKD ), to regulate the investment for establishment of assembling plants and the role of sole agents Indonesia
1974 ���� Government issued the policy to encourage the local auto industry & to stop the importation of CBU vehicles
1976 ���� Government issued the policy to use the locally produced parts & components. The higher import duties to vehicles which did not have the locally made stamping parts
2. Period 1980 - 1989 1983 ���� � Government issued the policy to boost the development of local components ( the 2nd deletion program ).
� High import duties were applied to the main components : engines, transmissions, brake system, etc
3. Period 1990 - 1998 1993 ���� Government replaced the deletion program with the incentive program. The Automobile manufacturers were allowed to choose components to be used in the assembling activities to reach a certain level of local content targeted by the regulation
1996 ���� To speed up the implementation of the incentive program, the government introduced the national automobile program stipulating that an exemption of import duties will be granted if manufacturers reached : 1st year 20%, 2nd year 40% and 3rd year 60%. Exemption of luxury tax will be granted for the vehicles with local content 60& and more

4. Period 1999 - Present 1999 ���� � The government issued “the 1999 automotive policy package “to boost to enhance the post 1998 post crisis domestic market by lowering of import duties and allowing CBU import.
� This policy were also to stimulate export of auto products, andencourage the development of parts manufacturing.
� The incentive program was abolished.
2000-2005 ���� The government issued an environment policy adopting the Euro-2 emission standard, which effective from 1 January 2005 for new model and 1 January 2007 for current model
2006-2008 ���� The government issued a policy to increase oil price by 120% which affected domestic market in 2006, dropped 40% from 534,000 unit in 2005 to 319,000 unit. In 2007 domestic sale increased to 433,000 unit and in 2008 603,000 unit
2009-2010 ���� Domestic sales in 2009 dropped 29% from 603,000 unit in 2008 to 433,000 unit in 2009 and in 2010 domestic sale is projected to 700,000 unit or increase of 38%.
