The citizens of Trini-dad and Tobago usually put

entertainment before everything else, so there is scarcely a dull peri-od when it comes to the entertain-ers themselves. With more than half the year having elapsed sev-eral celebrities have set their sights on 2014 and are working hard on releasing new material for the Car-nival season. This is no different for the laundry list of clients at JC Management.

Company head Jelan Cum-berbatch divulged to ET&T that many of his artistes are currently engrossed in potentially career-altering projects. Cumberbatch spoke highly of two of his newest signings from the DJ fraternity that have been making noise in international circles of late. Junior K and David Degree out of the Cyberia Sound System and DJ. Kaotic Int’l are doing their duties to put T&T on the map and Cum-berbatch couldn’t be more proud of them. “Kaotic won two Interna-tional Soca Awards for Best Soca DJ and Best Mixtape,” He said. “He is working on a new mixtape as he sets his sights on becoming the world’s #1 Soca DJ.”

Jelan added that Junior K is also working hard as his College Mania TV programme has made

its way onto Tempo where it will be viewed by a much larger region-al audience. Junior K is also in dis-cussions with local network CNC 3 to air his programme. All of this is being done while he continues to hold down his nighttime slot on the Boomchampions94.1fm. JC Management is responsible for bookings for both sets of DJ’s.

David ‘Millbeatz’ Millien is un-derstandably busy as he continues to come to terms with the success of his breakout year while he pre-pares for another hectic season.

The producer had several sum-mer riddims on the radio and he produced local Summer anthem Sample for Fadda Moses. Cum-berbatch said he is now in heavy “Carnival mode” as he works with a plethora of both established and up and coming artistes.

David’s sister Deniece ‘Dee Dee’ Millien is coming off a Syn-ergy TV special in which she per-formed a variety of tracks (both covers and originals) with a live band. The R&B songstress also has a single out featuring ESoul entitled In Love.

Trini Jacobs is another artiste who is about to breathe new life into her career. However, due to the specific nature of her talents, she is being managed quite differ-ently. In the coming month, fans can expect to hear a couple Alter-native releases from Jacobs. These songs will bridge the gap for Jacobs while showing her flexibility as an artiste. These songs were done at Premiere Studios. “These songs will open her up to a new market and get her name back out there while we work on a whole new re-branding of the artiste. After that, we will focus on her Carnival re-leases,” said Jelan. “She also has a few reggae releases, but we are withholding them for after Carni-val,” he added.

Musicians aren’t the only peo-ple on the label who are adding to their portfolios. ET&T was told that Hans Devignes is currently enrolled in acting classes as he seeks to explore new territories. Hans has long been an expert at hosting both for events and on the radio and he also owns a media production company. However, unlike most DJ’s and announcers who have decided to delve into the soca arena for quick bucks, Hans has chosen to explore news means of expression.

Cumberbatch promises more exciting developments to come out of JC Management Co and ET&T will bring you all the latest developments as they occur.

A new promotional en-tity is planning to burst

onto the scene in a big way with some shrewd marketing and an innovative concept. Livefourentertainment pre-sents Promoters Can Play Soccer Picnic at the Hasley Crawford Training Grounds on September 21st.

The event which runs from 8am to 6pm will feature Trinidad and Tobago’s big-gest and best promoters going head to head in a seven-a-side hockey post format tourna-ment. One Live4entertain-ment representative shared that some very well-known entities are already on board. “So far we have 15 different teams already signed up and we are continually generating more interest.” Among the promo-tional units mentioned were Rapid Response, The Thick

Girls Rock committee and Junglest International.

While the response from the bigger teams has been overwhelming, the rep also stated that the aim of the event was actually to give the smaller promotional groups a place to be seen and offer them an opportunity to net-work within the fraternity. In addition, team member Dale Mapp shared that he believed they should step away from the saturated party platform in order to present something refreshing for their first major event. “We decided to team up with the other promoters so we could build off of the camarade-rie and make ourselves known.”

What drew the support of so many people is more than likely the huge $30,000.00 in cash and prizes to be won on the day. The grand prize

for the winning team alone is $20,000.00. That prize money could go a long way into developing your next pre-mium event, but some of the participating promoters have hinted that winnings could go to charities.

Livefourentertainment says that the day will not be focused on football only as measures are being put in place to have a ‘Kid’s Zone’ (equipped with bouncy castle) constructed. Several spon-sors have teamed up with the group to help them realize this event with Red Bull, Blue Waters, Coca Cola and Digi-cel at the core so far.

It is indeed a novel idea that will bring several of your favourite party planners to-gether. Surely, they will be looking forward to your faith-ful support on the 21st.

Recently, the trinidad+tobago film festival (ttff) an-

nounced the first section of its programme of films for its 2013 edition, the Caribbean features section. Twenty-two feature-length Caribbean and diaspora films—ten fiction films and 12 documentaries—will screen at the ttff/13, which runs from 17 Sep-tember–01 October.

The 22 films come from 14 Caribbean countries, and all but one will be making their local premiere at the Festival. In ad-dition, five of the films will be world premieres, nine will en-joy their Caribbean premiere, and two their international pre-miere.

Fourteen of the films will be in official competition, for one or more of four awards: Best Narrative Feature, Best Docu-mentary Feature, Best T&T Fea-ture and Best Caribbean Film by an International Filmmaker.

"We have a very strong Carib-bean programme this year, films from right across the region, portraying us in all our diversi-

ty,” said Annabelle Alcazar, Pro-gramme Director of the ttff. “It's very exciting to see the main sec-tion of our programme, grow.”

Still to be announced are the closing night film, the section of Caribbean short and medium-length films, the panorama sec-tion of feature-length films (films from world cinema), and the ex-perimental films playing in the New Media section. Last week

the Festival announced Half of a Yellow Sun, the Nigerian-UK drama directed by Biyi Bandele, as its opening night film.

The full lineup of Caribbean features follows. Films marked with an asterisk (*) are in com-petition.

Tanimu Greaves is as eclec-tic as the sound of his first

name and he makes no qualms about it. The young artiste prides himself as someone who can’t be held to any one genre, though he admits his songs have a strong dancehall influence to them. His says his styles have been shaped by his love for Brian Mc Knight, Bunji, Benjai and Machel Mon-tano. The 27 year old is known mostly in strict music circles around Trinidad, but Greaves be-lieves the time for him to attack the mainstream is here as he con-stantly records new tracks with strong radio potential.

Hailing from Chaguanas, Greaves has the strength of JC

Management Company behind him and he is trying his best to

utilize all the resources available to him. He is working extensive-

ly with popular producer Mr. Spine, but once time permits he will work with the in-demand David ‘Mill Beats’ Millien.

Roughly a year ago, he wrote the infectious Wining Harmony produced by Precision Produc-tions. Now, Tanimu is aiming to surpass mere social media suc-cess with his upcoming releases. He remains fairly tight-lipped on his work, but he does state that the next month will signal a re-birth of sorts as will be getting heavy into production for his new projects.

In terms of inspiration for these works he says “It’s all about the fans. I make music for the peo-ple and once they are happy, I am happy.”

The Queen’s Royal College school hall in Port of Spain

was the venue for a female friend-ly treat on Sunday 25th August. In fact, it was more than just an outing for ladies. The event enti-tled ‘Woman Is Boss’ was an awe-inspiring educational experience for those in attendance. The sem-inar featured locally born, for-eign based professor Dr. Raedene Copeland – an accomplished Dress and behavior specialist – analyzing and offering anecdotes aimed at making the Trinidad and Tobago woman realize their true potential.

The seminar took the form of a very personalized coaching platform on beauty, fashion and projection targeting women of all ages, ethnicities and shapes. The workshop included a Makeover Challenge, Make-Up Tutorial, Model Analysis and Breakout Sessions which proved to be more than mere ice-breakers.

One of the things Dr. Cope-land posited was that there is

no true correlation between at-tractiveness and intelligence. However, the perception of the gatekeepers ‘society’ is a hefty one because one’s appearance is the first thing people, or groups judge, in order to make an overall assessment. While Copeland pro-moted the importance of inner beauty and self-assuredness, she

did state that makeup is vital as it adds another dimension to the accumulative look of the person being presented.

She reiterated the process must begin with us… A process of “What do I want them to think about me”. This question is im-portant as the way we dress, walk and talk is all part of a package

each being presents as a brand. Speaking of branding, the

seminar received help from a few sponsors who were more than happy to provide giveaways to lucky patrons. Patrons also had the added bonus of a VIP style red carpet entrance with cocktails which heightened expectations of what was to come throughout.

No doubt, attendees would have been pleased with the knowledge imparted upon them at the event. It was a refreshing take on fashion unlike the tra-ditional fashion shows we have become accustomed to. The seminar treated with everything from casual to business attire and even gave men some insight even though it was tailored to the la-dies.

Copeland shared that this is just the first of a series of similar initiatives she planned to embark on in her native country. ET&T is looking forward to the next time she proclaims that Woman Is Boss!

Name: Ayiesha AbelAge: 18occupation: Student.

Southern beauty Aiesha Abel is not the average 18 year old. This popular promotional model’s passions extend way beyond clubbing and keeping up with the Kardiashian clan on television. She does have a penchant for entertainment, but it is deeply rooted in music and Theatre Arts.

It is no wonder Abel lists Drama as one of her hobbies. However, she is also into Government relations. Who knows… maybe she’ll one day become T&T’s sexiest politician.

In the interim, Ayiesha is fo-cused on making a difference to the Tourism Industry of Trinidad & Tobago while painting a won-derful image with a stable family and opening her own food busi-ness (quite a mouthful indeed).

She has already taken steps to achieving these goals as Abel is currently studying Tourism Man-agement at Trinidad & Tobago Hospitality & Tourism Institute.

For her personal credo, she borrows from philosopher/mar-tial arts great Bruce Lee as she says "A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at." However, it seems as though she is doing a lot more than just taking aim.

Cellulite occurs when the con-nective tissue pulls down on

fat causing the fat to bulge under the skin. The less fat you have the less noticeable cellulite is. Diet and exercise play an important role in reducing the appearance of cellulite.

If you want to reduce cellulite you need to detoxify your body, especially your liver and colon. Lay off nicotine and caffeine, do not consume excess salt or fat and drink plenty of water. Eat foods rich in nutrients such as soy, blue-berries and nuts. Make sure you get the nutrients glucosamine, B vitamins and essential fatty acids. Onions are also a wonderful food to combat cellulite. Onions act as a natural diuretic releasing water buildup from skin cells.

Exercise to lose weight and tone your legs and buttocks. Do specific exercises to increase mus-cle mass in your thighs like walk-ing, biking, stair climbing, yoga and Pilates. Having less fat and more muscle will make cellulite disappear. Muscle will stretch the skin and smooth out the dimpled bumpy appearance.

To increase circulation and break up the fat do daily massages to troubled areas. You can also use a body brush in the shower or bath with a body wash or ex-foliating product to help increase circulation. Use aromatherapy oils in your bath to stimulate your system: Sage, cypress, and juniper oils aid with cellulite reduction.

Wearing pantyhose will also help combat and reduce cellulite, especially the body shaping ones that contour your thighs. Panty-hose compress fat and aid circula-tion. There is cellulite reduction pantyhose on the market now which is specifically made to help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

You can make a body wrap at home with coffee grounds and seaweed to help reduce cellulite. Take warm coffee grounds and spread on troubled areas, wrap with moist seaweed (can be pur-chased at health food stores) then

cover with plastic wrap. Keep the wrap on for about a half hour. Un-wrap and rinse off in the shower. Massage your thighs as you rinse off.

There are also many commer-cial products that you can pur-chase to help combat the appear-ance of cellulite. Some of the most

popular are: L’Oreal Sublime Slim which consists of a day and a night gel to apply daily, Clarins Total Body Lift, Murad Firm and Tone Serum, Body Creator Aro-matic Firming Cream, Algotherm Pulpe Activ Minceur, and Guinot Absolue Minceur home version products.

If you have money to spend on your cellulite treatment, there are also many good Spa cellulite reduction methods.

Cellulite may never completely disappear but at least you can mini-mize it and make your thighs look as good as possible when you want to put on a bikini or a mini skirt.

brendan ‘I-sasha’ Young’s pa-triotic track Red, White &

Black has been making waves over the last few weeks. This seems all the more fitting amid the backdrop of the nation’s 51st Independence anniversary celebrations. The bard known for his dexterous tongue and accompanying vocal abil-ity was gracious enough to give ET&T an interview. Here what he had to say on a host of topics.

eT&T: what was your inspiration for recording your new single Red, white and black?isasha: Traveling abroad inspired the song. I was out in Texas driving along this long desolate stretch and all you would encounter is rednecks. Eventually we got to our destination and it was a little Trini spot out in the middle of nowhere in Texas. They had doubles, roti and everything just like home and I thought “You can’t stop Trinis.” I wrote the song as soon as I got to the hotel and around the same time producer Iko contacted me and said he had a riddim for me. I ended up recording that song on the riddim.

eT&T: what’s next on the agenda for isasha? isasha: It’s Go Hard or Go Home. I’m working nonstop recording and performing outside. I have gigs lined up in Atlanta and New York soon. I will be releasing singles for the two albums I plan on dropping this year too.

eT&T: what was your most memorable performance?isasha: There are so many. There were shows in the BVI and Montserrat that were crazy where I performed with Million Voice and Jah Bami. There was so much vibes.

eT&T: Are you a Rastafarian or is it just all

about the locks?isasha: I would say that I am a Rasta. Religion is something that generally promotes division and I am for unity, but I have some beliefs.

eT&T: what do you think can be done to treat with the current crime surge (especially in east Port-of-spain)?isasha: Everything is about money. If we share the wealth equally then things will work out better for the population. Eradicating poverty is a way to end crime. We have to open our minds too because a lot of people from certain areas are stigmatized and they will find it hard to rise out of their situation. The CEPEP

and 10 days won’t help. Look how many government houses are just unoccupied only to be used as election tools. We have to give everyone something.

eT&T: Local reggae enjoyed a renaissance in 2006. what will it take to get back to that point of appreciation for locals in genre outside of soca?isasha: Well the music is still here. It didn’t die. It’s just that people are not hearing it. People always ask us why we stopped, but we never did. Instead they end up getting the CD’s ad they tell us that the music is really good. I think we have to work a lot more closely with the radio stations and DJ’s. I have no beef with DJ’s who

have not been playing local music. I have lots of friends on the radio. However, the music has strayed to the more hype dancehall and hip hop songs for a while. Now the people only want that as it is what they have been fed and what they are comfortable with. It’s all a cycle. The time will come again and it’s just for us to be ready.

eT&T: what is one thing you would never do?isasha: I would never sell my soul.

eT&T: on your facebook page you have photos of yourself playing football. Are you a big football fan and if so which is your favourite team?isasha: I support home first and foremost so Trinidad is my favourite team. In terms of club football, I am a Real Madrid fan, but I also back teams like Manchester United because of their affiliation with Dwight York.

eT&T: Anything else you want readers to know?Just never to give up on the artistes in T&T. A lot of them are working hard behind the scenes. We have people leaving their homes and families when the night comes to record and their songs are not being played. We artistes need to come together and form one body. There is power in numbers. We have to show the youths there is hope and always leave a door open for them. There are a lot of talented youths and they are the ones who are going to push our culture further.

This vacation period saw people rocking a lot of different casual styles as they moved from one social circle to the next. However, if there is one thing we know about casual couture it is that the classics always come out on

top. speaking of tops, vests were all the rage especially when paired with sexy shorts. Many times the shorts stole the show. whether you chose to rock your vests and shorts together or as part of another ensemble, you would have taken part in promoting one of the biggest “summer” style choices.

our national instrument seldom receives the love it de-

Renowned liming district Ariapita Avenue came alive to the sweet strains of pan as many of the na-tion’s biggest bands stormed the streets carnival style. such was the atmosphere that a few people even came out in Carnival costume to support their favourite band. eT&T was there to capture it all.

if an event is being done the third time, bet your bottom dol-lar it is because something good came out of the first two

versions. The third edition of wine and Cheese, Music and Art was something to behold as it featured the best in fine wines and cheeses and had a plethora of powerful entertainment op-tions as well. Queens Royal College was the venue for the ex-travaganza which eT&T was happy to be a part of.

As is the norm every year around the

end of August a new band has emerged with plans to set the

big stage alight for the upcoming carnival season. Carnival 2014 can say hi to new mas band flirt as they hosted their band launch at the band’s Phillip street headquarters. The intimate affair provided a good dose of entertainment from premium stars such as bunji Garlin and Cassi. Just from the looks of their facebook page one can tell that this small band is serious about their craft. ET&T went for a firsthand look and we are offering the second look right here.

Trinidad and Tobago born and raised Dr. Raedene Copeland is a Dress and behaviour specialist and Pro-fessor at Seattle Pacific University. She decided to bring some of the knowledge and skills she honed

abroad back to the land of her birth when she hosted the aptly titled “woman is boss: Do you Know what your style says or Does Not say About you,” The seminar was designed to coach individuals to con-trol the non-verbal messages they communicate with their dress and behaviour in various contemporary Caribbean settings. There was even a virtul red carpet to greet patrons they arrived. eT&T holds fashion close to heart so we went to see what Dr. Copeland had to offer.

brilliant and bold colours coupled with feathers and the right amount

of skin was what was on feature at the Hasely Crawford stadium when yuMA presented its C2k14 collection. Cirque Carnaval was the theme of the launch and the costumes on show truly fascinated those in attendance. Patrons were pleasantly surprised to see colourful twists to the traditional costume fare as some of the models even strutted their stuff in decorated leggings. eT&T was pleased to be a part of the proceedings and we’re sharing the joy with you here. for more photos, visit our facebook page.

eVeNTs eXTRAit’s nice when promoters can come

together to do something positive and not hound the big bucks they nor-mally receive from their events. This

event aimed at treating children and a group of special needs individuals to a good time was an event i’m sure they will never forget. The Arima Velodrome was the venue for the action which featured ce-lebrity performances by singers and Kes the illusionist.

The blue waters Aqua fun Park was set up at the Hasley Crawford stadium once again this year

to facilitate the masses of homebodies looking for clean fun during the summer holiday period. How-ever, in an effort to up the ante a bit, the park host-ed several party-themed events where patrons could splash away and have fun while they enjoyed the sweet strains of their favourite music provid-ed by DJ’s and performers. eT&T was intrigued by the concept though it didn’t seem like many other people were. There was a low turnout at this event, but there were still smiling faces all around.

is he seri-ous? He really thought show-ing us a peace sign would let us leave him alone. However, the ed Hardly belt around his neck as well as the oversized skully on his head was too much to over-look.

A blue vest with exposed bra strap and striped pants is being accessorized with a red baseball cap tilted on top of her braids. we’re not sure what look she was trying to go for, but we are certain that she is as con-fused a soul as we were when we first saw her.

By the age of fourteen, he

could play any music that he heard on the radio. Three years later, Thicke signed a deal with Interscope Records and with no formal training, he began profes-sionally writing and producing music for recording artists like Brandy, Brian McKnight, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson, and Christina Aguilera.

superhero fans have barely recovered

from the news that Ben Affleck is to play Bat-man opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman in the impending Man Of Steel sequel. But now it has been reported that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will play Lex Luthor in the rebooted DC Comics franchise.

Having played chemist-turned-meth kingpin Walter White in the hugely popular AMC drama for five series, Cranston has plenty of evil nemesis experience to draw on.

According to Com-

ic Book News he has signed a deal with mov-ie studios for at least six appearances as villain-ous businessman and political mogul Luthor in the DC Universe.

"Cranston is truly a dream casting for Luthor," a source told Cosmic Book News. The actor, 56, has won three Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series Emmy Awards for Breaking Bad.

Affleck and Cran-ston previously worked together on Iranian hostage crisis film Argo, for which the former won a slew of directorial awards.
