All types of recycling and specialand warm asphalt production technologies are also offered
Energy savings
MARINI asphalt plants are designed to reduceenergy consumption, allowing a remarkabledecrease of the production costs, with a consequentgrowth in profitability of the customer’s business. The innovative drying filtering unit concept results inoptimized fines and gas circuits and recovery ofenergy radiated by the drum, thus drasticallyreducing fuel and electrical consumption.
Transportability
eTOWER is designed to greatly reduce transportationcosts. The dimensions of each module are fullycompliant with road regulations and no specialpermission is required to transport the plant.
Reliability and experience
Over 3000 plants sold worldwide bear witness toMARINI plant quality and the satisfaction of ourcustomers who produce asphalt at high outputlevels, round the clock.
Environment
The plant’s innovative design helps reduceelectricity and fuel consumption, resulting insignificantly reduced CO2 emissions
The mixing tower design features total or partialcladding, for even lower dust emissions andreduced noise.

Special asphalt mixes
Coloured or clear asphalt mixes can be easilymanufactured by adding pigments directly into themixer and via a dedicated clear binder line.Special binders such as modified bitumen can beinjected into the mixer via the conventional bitumenline or via an additional line. Irrespective of thesystem used, the bitumen is precisely weighed viathe dedicated weighing hopper. The mixer is preconfigured to accept all types ofsolid additives and fibers in bags or big-bags andcalibrated RAP.
Warm-mix asphalt
The production of warm-mix or low-energy asphaltis possible regardless of the technology used:
 addition of solid additives
addition of liquid additives to the bitumen line or tothe bitumen weighing bin
production and injection of foam bitumen
Recycling
eTOWER is designed to adapt to all kinds ofrecycling solutions. The crushed RAP is stored in and supplied fromspecific RAP feed bins.It is then introduced into the dryer drum recyclingring and/or directly into the mixer via a dedicatedelevator.

welded The drum length, the reduced gas speed, the shape
and layout of flights are all factors which optimizeheat exchange and reduce energy consumption
Probe for continuous monitoring of the aggregatestemperature at the drum outlet
The aggregate discharge chute is designed with aspecial wearing plate
The highly-resistant steel flights are bolted for easymaintenance
Air space insulation Powered by 4 friction drives

Compliance with the environmental standards in forceand the quality of the final material make it essential touse high-performance filtration and recovery systemsfor fines.
Gas filtrationCombustion gases from the dryer drum, which areladen with fine particles, are extracted into the filterconnected to the drum. These gases pass through thefiltering bags which collect the fines and allow theclean gases to pass through. Finally, the periodiccleaning of the bags by reverse air de-dusting allowsthe fines to be recovered by gravity.
SafetyCritical and fail proof safety systems are a must whenthe plant is required to produce difficult mixes such ashigh content RAP mixes. A dual safety and controlsystem at the filter entrance arrests the burner shouldthe temperature be excessive. The system can also befitted with a fresh air injection flap for further safety.
PreseparatorA preseparator (optional) can be integrated onto thefilter, to recover the larger fines, which can be gradedand processed into the mix.
Recovered fines circuitDepending on the position of the hot mix asphalt silos(under the mixer or by side):
The recovered fines can be transported directlyfrom the recovered silo (under bag filter) to the fillerweighing bin by a screw conveyor
The recovered fines can be transported from therecovered fines silo to a buffer hopper by a fillerelevator, and then transferred to the filler weighingbin by a screw conveyor.

Advanced recycling ringCold RAP is fed directly into the dryer through thespecial recycling ring and reaches the final temperaturethrough heat exchange with the virgin aggregates. The special design of the recycling ring flights preventsany risk of blockage that may arise due to the gradualfusion of the residual bitumen contained within thematerials to be recycled. This economic solution has been widely tested with RAPpercentages being as high as 35% or even more, inspecific cases.Since RAP and virgin aggregates mixed together, the re-composition of the grading curve has to be managedwith the cold feeders units. Additional weighing systemscan be opted for very precise controls to deliver high mixquality.
Recycling in the mixerRAP is fed into the mixer through a cold elevator and, inthe same way as the virgin aggregates, it is metered in aweighing device before introduction. The steam produced in the mixer has to be evacuated, and the production output could get affected to allow forsufficient heat exchange between cold RAP and hot virginaggregates. This solution allows the screening of virginaggregates. Recycling rate can reach 25% and, by addinga recycling ring, can even be as high as 40% or more inspecific cases.
Recycling in a double drumRAP is dried and heated in a specially designed parallelflow dryer drum. This allows a very high percentage ofRAP normally up to 60%, and more with some addedfeatures. Virgin aggregates go through the conventionalroute and are screened.
Recycling
Every responsible contractor today produces asphalt mix with Recycled Asphalt Pavements(RAP) and the percentage of RAP in the mix is ever increasing. Every leading professionalhot mix producer must be able to adapt this every evolving and very important environmen-tal need. Whatever technical solution is chosen, a dedicated set of specific RAP cold feed-ers must be used to handle the particular characteristics of reclaimed asphalt.

Energy savings
Since energy costs have become a central factor in every jobsite, MARINI hasdeveloped a range of technologies to increase energy efficiency. When it comes tosaving money, saving energy, and saving our planet MARINI is ready to support itsCustomers to achieve these goals.
Energy savingsThe innovative positioning of the filtering system abovethe dryer drum offers major advantages in terms ofenergy savings.
An innovative and optimized gas circuitUnlike more traditional systems, the duct between thedryer and filter is short and insulated, which preventsany energy loss.
A fines circuit completely redesignedThe fines are collected in the under-filter hopper bygravity and then conveyed to the fines weighing hoppereither directly by screw or via a fines elevator. The bigger fines collected in the pre-separator areconveyed by gravity to the inlet of the hot elevator. Both these innovations eliminate the need for manyscrew conveyors and therefore result in considerablesavings both in terms of electricity consumption andmaintenance costs.
Recovering the energy given off by the dryerCaptured by the under-filter hopper located just above, the energy released by the dryer drumkeeps the recovered fines in a hot atmosphere andthey therefore do not need heating again later..
Less fuel consumption with an efficient burnerIn the lifecycle of an asphalt plant, fuel counts for themain part of the budget. Considering 20 years ofproduction, the cost of the fuel is more than 10 timesthe initial cost of the entire asphalt plant. For thisreason MARINI implements only the most efficientEuropean technology for its burner. Achieving lowemissions and high fuel savings make eTOWER theperfect choice for the most demanding customers.

Warm asphalt
Warm and semi-warm mix asphalt make it possible to obtain almost identicalperformances to those of traditional hot mix asphalt while significantly reducingenergy consumption and CO2 emissions.
Producing warm mix asphaltThe evolution-ready eTOWER plants can easily beadapted to produce warm mixes using ready-to-usekits for the most common processes such as:- the addition of solid or liquid additives- the use of foam bitumen
Solid additives kitAdditives are swiftly injected in form of powders orpellets at different stages of the production process.Specially designed hoppers further transfer theadditives which can be metered either by volume orweight.
Liquid additives kitThis kit consist of a dedicated unit including:- a storage zone of additive containers on retention- reheating and temperature maintenance- a pump used to dose and inject the additives
Foam bitumen kitThe foam bitumen production kit on eTOWER plantsincorporates the following systems :- water metering system- dedicated bitumen metering system- Pressurized injection system - Foam generator
In all cases, special systems make it possible to optimise gas temperatures (additional heat source as an example).
