NEW: MULTIDISCIPLINARY TUMOUR BOARD SESSIONS: H&N, BREAST, RECTAL
Educational tool for RO to become familiar with the complex challenges/needs within the multidisciplinary environment in regard to knowledge and competence to study the decision making process of tumour boards, its possibilities and pitfalls to transfer the demonstrated experience to the live home situation in multidisciplinary oncology of “everyday”.
Concept: to demonstrate how the knowledge about different levels of clinical evidence for various prognostic, predictive, diagnostic and therapeutic measures are finally “tailored” to the needs for decision making of the individual patient with cancer.
Proces: -A radiation oncologist (an ESTRO fellow) prepares and demonstrates a clinical case -The tumour board panel (a diagnostic radiologist, a surgical oncologist, a medical/clinical oncologist, and a radiation oncologist)discuss the case -The session is coordinated by a expert radiation oncologist who interacts also with the audience -Finally a joint decision will be taken for the individual case. Voting systems may be used.
