Don Blackwell, Executive Director, GBN “You’ve prepared for retirement and you’ve laid up treasures on the earth, but have you laid up treasures in heaven?” Tis the message that we often hear preached from the pulpit. e chances are, however, that if you’re reading this article that you’re a member of the church. You’ve been washed by the blood of Jesus, and you’re already laying up treasures in heaven. To you, we ask the opposite question, “What about your treasures on the earth?” What will happen to your money, home and other property when you die?” You’ve been giving to good works such as GBN because you care about sharing the gospel with a lost world. But what about after you die? Have you prepared for your earthly possessions after you’re gone? Will they continue to be used to preach the gospel that you love with all of your heart? If you’re interested in naming GBN in your will, there are many different ways to do it. If you would like more information (or want to learn more about the options in the chart below), please contact Dale Hubbert at (256) 724-6823. Dale is a financial planner and a brother in Christ. We are always delighted to share good news that comes as a result of our work at GBN. Last week I spoke with an elder in the church in Fort Payne, Alabama. Their congregation hosts an FM radio station that streams GBN Radio - WFTP 103.9 FM. He told me of a baptism that came as the result of a man listening to their station on his way to work. The man would listen until he got out of range. On his way home, he would resume listening when he got back into range. That’s the benefit of having a 24/7 radio station! This gentleman contacted the church and was soon baptized.

In addition to this, he shared the news of a restoration, and most recently of a couple who had contacted the Fort Payne congregation to learn more about the church and had requested to begin Bible Correspondence Courses. We are privileged to work together with them in reaching the world with the gospel.

The Fort Payne elders have also decided to construct a television studio inside of their current facility.

They, along with others around the brotherhood, will be producing programs such as you see airing

on GBN on a daily basis. The Fort Payne studio will be focusing on new programming that is

directed at the younger generations. If you would like to help, funds can be sent directly to the Fort Payne church of Christ, 513 Grand Ave NW, Fort Payne, AL 35967. These funds will be overseen by the Fort Payne Elders: Jim Campbell, Mark Dawson, Ken McDonald and Randy Turner.

16 HOURS OF

ROMANS ON DVD

With certainty, the book of Romans is one of the most challenging in the New Testament. With that in mind, we’d like to recommend to you a new DVD series produced by GBN. This 16-hour collection, taught by Keith Mosher, is largely the same material that he teaches students at the Memphis School of Preaching. The Romans set comes in a plastic case which contains 4 DVD’s. Brother Mosher has agreed to allow us to use it as a fund-raiser for our work. If you would like to own this series, we are making it available to anyone who makes a contribution of $50 or more to GBN. Along with your contribution, please note that it is for the Romans DVD set. Please also include the address where you want it mailed.

IN MEMORY OF...

Nonprofit organizations typically see a drop-off in donations during the summer months, and GBN is no exception to the rule. The drop-off began this year in May. In June, GBN was blessed by one of our faithful supporters who agreed to encourage others (Hebrews 10:24) by agreeing to match special donations received through August 31st up to $7,500.

Congregations and members of the Lord’s church responded in a gracious and generous manner. Our cup overflowed and a total of $11,463 was donated during the campaign. The matching donation has brought the total up to $18,963.

We are greatly encouraged by the response to this campaign. Our efforts to expand the network and add additional programming continue. We pray that God may be glorified by the generosity shown by our supporters and the work of GBN going forward.

A SPECIAL NOTE OF THANKS!

(UPDATE ON THE MATCHING FUNDS OFFER)

It was a thrill to see so many of our viewers and supporters in Sevierville this year. Truly, the week of Polishing the Pulpit is our favorite time of the year. One of the great blessings of PTP this year was the privilege of airing our GBNLive program in front of

a LIVE audience. On Saturday night, in front of a crowd of hundreds, Mike Hixson hosted the program with B.J. Clarke and Dan Winkler as panelists. For the next hour, these well-seasoned gospel preachers produced one of the best GBNLive programs we’ve ever done. Keep watching GBN for a rerun, and we hope to see you next year at PTP!
