PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project is mainly environmental wherein the primary goal is to conserve the environment for the future generation of IPs in the specific area. The main activity will be tree planting in places within Barangay Datu Salumay which have been barren for a long time brought about by drought some seven years ago. Specifically mentioned by the community where the tree planting will take place is on a watershed area within the barangay. Before the tree planting, an information dissemination session will take place on the subject Preservation of the Environment and Climate Change. This will bring about advocacy of environmental protection to the participants. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the participating IP youth and Tribal Elders and Leaders of Barangay Datu Salumay will take place declaring the area a Mini-Protected Area for the IP Youth.

• The goal of the project is to establish a Mini-Protected Area in Barangay Datu Salumay, Marilog District, Davao City as a symbol for the Indigenous Peoples of the area to protect and secure the environment for the future generation of IPs
