Betty and Bill'sBoarding House

Blues&&&&& Roy Howard

Betty Botter bought some butterBut, she said, this butter's bitter

If I put it in my batterIt will make my batter bitter.So she bought a bit of butterBetter than the bitter butter

And it made her batter better.Thus, 'twas better Betty BotterBought a bit of better butter.

Bill had a billboardBill had a board bill

Bill's board bill bored Bill;so, bill sold his billboard

to pay his board billNow Billy's board billno longer bores Bill.

There is a boarding housefar, far away.

Where they serve ham and eggsthree times a day.

Oh, how the boarders yellwhen they hear the dinner bell.

Oh, how the eggs do smellthree miles away.

Deep in the high mountains andtall trees, somewhere long ago and faraway, there was a house of manyrooms. The owner began to rent roomsto individuals, who also paid extra forboard, which means food. A cooknamed Betty was hired, and the board-ers, who paid for room and board, gotwhat they paid for.

Betty, the cook, did not havemuch imagination. She only knew howto prepare one meal: ham and eggs.For breakfast she served ham and eggs,for lunch she served ham and eggs, fordinner she served ham and eggs. Theboarders knew that the dinner bell wasabout to sound, because the odor ofthe eggs was so strong, people couldsmell them three miles away!

Bill, one of the boarders, wasdepressed. He was in the advertisingbusiness, and they lived so far awayand long ago, that no one had anythingto advertise. With no advertising sold,it was very hard for him to pay his billfor room and board. Then it ocurred tohim that if he sold his bill board, hewould have the money to pay his roomand board bill.

Will the boarders survive mealtime? Will Betty ever bake better bis-cuits? Will Bill ever pay his board bill?Listen to this song. Try to repeat.
