CONSCIOUSNESS
When you no longer rely on things, people or gods to make you happy, you allow yourself to feel happy whenever you choose to. You are able now to transform your unconscious dependence into
conscious choice.

My Experience at ESE Milan
My name is Claudia Martínez and I was born in Colombia. The last country I li-ved in was Brazil. While in Brazil preparing our move to Italy I was browsing on the internet looking for Major Events Management courses - the subject I have a passion for. I came across European School of Economics. I liked it, but I thought it looked and sounded so good that it must be very difficult to be part of.
I was very fortunate. Today I am a Certificate student at the campus in Milan and I consider myself privileged. ESE is multi ethnical with very high standards. The lectures are simply great and the staff is very pleasant. It is definitely a place where dreams come true.

Excellence is for Those Who Never Stop Learning
After 10 years teaching experience, I would like to invite my students to never give up studying, lear-ning, growing.
The master idea of management ‘to study, to practice and to be’ is a rule to bring with you all lifelong.
Five bright suggestions come to mind.
First is the prospect of a great carreer. Search for excellence! Leave a sign of your presence. Job promo-tions go to smart people who keep up with the latest information and technology. New careers are cre-ated all the time so those who see what’s coming, have to be prepared with new learning experiences.
Second is the enhanced self-esteem when you reach for new horizons, accept tough challenges and arrive at a whole new level.
Third is the freedom to choose what to learn. Searching for excellence I invite my students to read, watch, observe, ‘feel’ the life around the world. Fourth is to shape a personal style, try to be remebered and to model the way.
Fith Invest in yourself. Empower your life. Start your future with strong commitment to lifelong achie-vement.
Knowing these five suggestions you will probably be the leaders of future.
All the best!!

Isabel VitzBA (Hons) in International BusinessESE Milan
Having lived in several different countries my entire childhood I looked for a uni-versity that would enable me to continue living in this truly international atmos-phere that I have always been surrounded by. ESE fitted this purpose perfectly! I have only just finished my first year at ESE and already I have learned so much, in theory as well as in practice. I am studying Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Inter-national Business and I feel that ESE is the ideal university for me to achieve this degree. In all my subjects the professors have always included real world exam-
ples and discussed the aspects of these to us. I have thus gained a thorough insight into the economic situation in our world and I think that this is crucially important for pursuing a career in international business as we have to be informed about everything that is happening around us.
One month ago ESE gave me the opportunity to complete an internship in Quintessentially, one of the most renowned concierge services in the world. I am now working for Quintessentially Events which is a world-class event company. Being in an Italian surrounding this internship has also enabled me to learn the Italian language very quickly. In the short time I have worked here I have already gained so much experience in the event sector and I really appreciate that I was given this chance.

Timeless Leadership
On the 22nd of May 2009 ESE Milan was proud to hold Professor D’Anna’s Timeless Leader-ship Seminar.
This Seminar was about a revolution in management education, a real metanoia or upheaval of thought. Timeless management.... is about governing oneself before governing the others.
This seminar discussed applying the ideas and principles of Timeless Leadership for success in business and enhancement of corporale longevity. Timeless management is about governing oneself before governing the others. There are no techniques but work on one’s being, work of self-study, self-observation to know oneself.
More information on Professor D’Anna’s seminars is available at:

Learn to Smile Inside
“I thought about the greatness of this revelation: If such a truth had been recognized by humanity it would have revolutionised and transformed our way of thinking and feeling for ever. One day I would transfer the force of this vision to my economics students: the fiercer the Antagonist’s attack, the graver the insult – the greater the opportunity to go beyond. “Learn to smile inside. Let the attack -- the offence -- manifest itself in all its mercilessness. The Antagonist should be fought outside, and simultaneously forgiven inside!
Forgiveness can only happen inside you. Impeccably ‘perform’ the fiercest combat …but without believing in it!”
Finally, a tiny chink was opening up to throw light on that thousand-year-old, impenetrable paradox: if you love him he is no longer your enemy; and if he is your enemy how can you love him?
“‘Love thine enemy’ is an idea that comes from a higher level of intelligence. Only a man who is complete can understand and apply it.Only he who has extirpated all interior conflict and division can do without the Antagonist. For anyone who has a dual logic, who still sees and thinks through a system of opposites, healing can only present itself with the ferocious mask of the Antagonist.” “The attitude of a leader in the face of difficulties should be this,” said the Dreamer representing the concept in mime by rubbing his hands like someone who finally has in front of him the very thing he has wished for and waited for a long time. “A leader knows that, however terrible the Antagonist may seem, the fight is always equal and the difficulties only apparent. The Antagonist’s mask - his apparent brutality – conceal access to the highest levels of responsibility.”
“No one has ever explained the game to you more clearly than this!” announced the Dreamer addressing His words to an invisible audience as vast as the planet. He added that without this understanding, without a School, most men would stop on the threshold of this passage, refusing to pay the price. We con-stantly come up against obstacles and internal voices that dissuade us from continuing, physical and psychological antagonists that test the strength of our aspiration, the clarity of our intent, our readiness and our determination.
“The impossible always opens the door to a new possibility.”
The more I immersed myself in the Dreamer’s vision, the more I felt the power of a special training. From Him I was receiving the teaching of a martial art capable of transforming every attack and every apparent adversity we encountered in life into a propulsive force. Enemies and obstacles now appea-red in a new light.
“The Antagonist, whether man or event, has the thankless task of revealing every emptiness, every shortcoming, every weakness or fear that you carry inside; uncompromisingly denouncing your lack of preparation, your faults and the limits that you yourself have set. Once you recognise the Antagonist inside yourself it will disappear from outside.” ... from The School for Gods
