““Ever since the school was founded by
my father, my team and I have dedicated ourselves
to providing the best learning experience possible for our
students. At ALI, we believe in the importance of taking extra care
of our students; making sure that they have the highest quality learning
experience, while having a safe and enjoyable stay in Montreal. To me,
the best sign of our success in achieving this is the fact that 50% of our
students come on the recommendation of ALI graduates. The fact
that more than 90% of students say that they would recommend
ALI to their friends makes it all worthwhile.”

WHAT IS ALI’S TEACHING
METHODOLOGY?
ENGLISH AND FRENCH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSES
In our programs, students learn standard English or French as well as informal use, such
as idioms and slang. There are 3 different programs to choose from, as well as elective
classes which allow each student to choose the learning focus they need.
ALI offers all levels of classes year round. Before arrival, students take an online level placement test;
and, on the first day of school, students take an oral test. This way, we accurately place students in the
correct language level.
EVALUATIONSIn addition to monthly tests, teachers excel at giving daily support and feedback, so students know
which areas they need to improve to advance to the next level. At the end of the course, students
receive a certificate indicating the final level achieved.
“It doesn’t matter where you’re from, at ALI you’re never a stranger. Classes are fun, dynamic, and with new
topics every day. I came to Montreal to learn French and I was quickly able to talk with my French-speaking
friends here.”
Mads Ronnow – Copenhagen, Denmark

These are taught with contextualized
activities, conversations, role plays,

to us that students gain confidence
in their ability to speak and use the
language that they need for their real
life goals –not only in the classroom.
TO REALLY LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE, WE BELIEVE LEARNING MUST BE
INTERACTIVE, STUDENT-CENTRED AND COMMUNICATIVE; AND STUDENTS
MUST RECEIVE EFFECTIVE TEACHER SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE.

The TOEFL test is recognized worldwide as an evaluation of a student’s proficiency level in English. A TOEFL score is a standard application requirement for many universities in Canada, the United States and other countries.
Students develop oral and written language skills for job interviews, meetings, presentations, report writing, and correspondence for sales, marketing, and other kinds of business. Business-related vocabulary is an important focus, as is appropriate presentation style and register for the English speaking business world.
This class is an introduction to the business world. Students develop oral and written skills for job interviews and presentations, for sales and promotions, and are exposed to business-related vocabulary and role play.
TOEIC is recognized worldwide and is recommended for students who want to enter the global workplace.
This class will prepare the students for the DELF exam with focus on developing the 4 skills (listening, writing, reading, and speaking) and practice exams. DELF is recognized worldwide in Canadian and European universities.
Students learn how to write texts, letters, e-mails, biographies, stories, and other important genres for their professional or higher education needs.
This class presents practical examples, practice tests, and group dynamics that help students prepare for the 2 parts of the exam: listening and conversation.
In this French course, students learn about the unique culture and history of this province, including facts about the people, language, economy, and modern culture that will help you understand and appreciate Quebec and its people.
