County News
At the County Board meeting of November 18th, Mark Landers (Killeagh) was confirmed as the new coach of the Cork Senior Hurling team, replacing Kieran Kingston, who stepped down recently. Landers captained Cork to All-Ireland glory in 1999 under the management of Jimmy Barry-Murphy, and since his retirement from playing, has been involved in coaching at club level and most recently, with the Rebel Óg Academy development squads where he was instrumental in victories in the Carrigdhoun tournament with the U15s and the Eugene Carey U17 tournament. Damien Irwin (Killeagh) was appointed manager of the Cork U21 hurling team, having served as a selector with previous manager Pat Kenneally. All-Ireland Intermediate hurling winning manager Liam Hayes (Dromina) joins the selectors, along with the outgoing three, John Hodgins (St. Finbarr's) - coach, Alan Browne (Blackrock) and Ger O'Halloran (Ballinhassig). Ronan Dwane (Aghada) will take over the Cork Intermediate hurlers, while Ronan Sheehan (Mallow) joins Pat O'Connell (Delany's), Peter Brennan (Ballinhassig) and Jerry Linehan (Inniscarra).

Cian O Connor after the St
Finbarr’s game
Senior Hurling Championship: Erins Own 1-09 St Finbarrs 3-12,
On Saturday 23rd of August we played the next round of our senior Hurling championship in Pairc Ui Chaoimh against St Finbarrs, they came out with all guns blazing and had the Erins Own net rattled in under 2 minutes, things got worse as they got a second in under 4 minutes not the start we were hoping for, we relied on Eoghan Murphy’s 4 frees in the first half & Mossie Carroll’s point from play to keep us in it 0-05 to 2-02 at half time, the second half didn’t get any better as we could only manage a goal from Cian O Callaghan & 4 points, 1 from an Eoghan Murphy free & 1 each from play from Brian Clifford, Kilian Murphy & Mossie Carroll not enough to keep with the barr’s as they scoured 1-10 in the second half which sadly brought an early end to our 2014 senior hurling championship season, Cian O Connor, Shane Murphy, Sean Kelly & Colm Coakley tried hard for Erins Own, Team in Full:1.Kieran Murphy(post) 2.Cian O Connor 3.Stephen Cronin 4.Niall Scanlon 5.Brian Clifford 6.Shane Murphy 7.Cormac Dooley 8.Kilian Murphy 9.Sean Kelly 10.Mark Collins 11.Eoghan Murphy 12.Colm Coakley 13.Mossie O Carroll 14.Kieran Murphy 15.Cian O Callaghan, Subs Used: James O Flynn for Mark Collins & Peter Kelly for Brian Clifford.
Shane, Kilian & Barry Og Murphy after winning the Senior Hurling League this year. RedFM Senior Hurling League Final Erins Own 2-12 Ballymartle 2-09, Pairc Ui Rinn was the venue for this year’s senior hurling final, it was a cold wet night, the pitch was in good order but the rain made things very slippy, Eoghan Murphy opened the scoring with a 65 & he added another 4 points before the break, Mossie Carroll on the 23rd minute hit the net with a rasper & Cian O Callaghan got added a point to give us the lead at the break of 1-06 to 1-04, conditions got worse for the second half witch made it hard for hurling to be played but credit to the lads they stuck at, Eoghan Murphy added another 5 points & Kilian Murphy with superb point from the centre of the field which inched over the bar, a stroke of genius from the line in bringing on Stephen Horgan in the last five minutes who found the net straight away, Ballymartle replied with a goal of their own, but it was too late & Erins Own were crowned League winners for 2014, Sean Kelly, Eoghan Murphy, Kilian Murphy, James O Flynn, Cathal O Mahony & Colm Coakley played well, Team in Full:1.Kieran Murphy 2.Cian O Connor 3.Shane Murphy 4.Daire Dennehy 5. Junior Hurling County League Final Erin’s own 0-17 Ballymartle 1-12, 08/11/2014On Saturday the 8th of November we finished our season in style, by traveling to Ballygarvan to play Ballymartle in the county junior hurling league final, it was a cold fresh afternoon the pitch was a bit heavy but the sun was shining we couldn’t ask for much more, the game got under way with a Martin Buckley point from a free he added 3 more before the break from frees, Stephen Horgan, Alan Bowen & Cathal Heavy got a point each, half time we trailed 0-7 to Ballymartle 1-8, things didn’t look good for us Ballymartle led for most of this game until the last ten minutes, Cathal O Mahony hitting two brilliant long range frees, Stephen Horgan got another point, Alan Bowen added another 2, Martin Buckley hit 3 more points from frees & 1 from play which drove the lads on, Cathal Heavy pointed to give us a two point lead which was to be the last score of the game, what a win.

2014 has been a good year in Erins Own ladies football and Camogie club. Personally i feel that the club is progressing and the future looks good! It has been a pleasure to work with both the Camogie and Football and of course the Erins Own senior club. There has been many pluses in the club throughout the year for example the St. Patricks day parade with whom we worked hard with the local Scouts, The u10 Camogie team playing in paric ui Rinn, The u12s Camogie playing in Croke Park, The U12s football team reaching the county final and the East Cork final,The u14s Camogie reaching the county final, The u14's football winning the East Cork final and finally we welcomed our new team of the Junior Ladies who did so well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Coaches and Mentors involved in any way without your help throughout the year there would be no Erins own ladies teams, I would also like to thank the parents it has been a long hard slog for you also but most of all I would like to thank all the girls/ladies for your patience hard work and Dedication. Finally we in Erins Own would like to wish you all a very Merry and Happy Christmas. Thank you Michelle guest
Ladies u8 Camogie Training began early Feb on the all-Weather in Carrigtwohill at first due to the weather. We began with about 15 players starting at around the age of 6. These girls were very enthusiastic and we had a great panel. We have a few very memorable trips out Our first game was against whites cross and our last was on the home ground of Camogie in Castle Road . We were fortunate to have the assistance of Ciara Murphy, Ali o Neill, Aiobhean Cunningham and of course the great Niamh Ni Caoimh Training finished up in October with our now traditional Halloween Party. We would like to thank all parents and we would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas Marguerite and Daphne

U14 camogie It was an early start for the girls; We trained down in Carrigtowhill for a number of weeks. We had great numbers. We started off with challenge matches and progressed to the semi final against St coloms on sat the 6th sept where we played well and won. We then found Ourselves in the County Final v Buttevant in ballinlough This was a great match so good it was a draw on the day But unfortunately in the replay Buttevant came out on top. We would like to wish all the girls a very merry Christmas and to al involved a big thank you
U12s Camogie We started back early Febuary in the hall in Caherlag, Each night we had about 16 girls turning up which is great. We had great help from Linda Dorgan of Corks Senior team. These girls have Great Spirit and nothing holds them back. We had plenty of Matches between the 12s and the U13s. The skill of these girls are getting better and better by the years We have a few unforgettable moments this year with our girls, First was to play in the home land of Hurling Simple Stadium, Then we were selected from Cork to play in Croke Park as part of the 110 years of Camogie it was a fantastic day and something to remember forever We would like to thank all the girls and their parents and wish all a merry Christmas Michelle and Catherine
U14 ladies Football The u14s ladies started training early in the year. These groups of ladies have great determination, spirit and drive. U10 football
With an early start in feb we started with low numbers but steadily as the word went out our numbers started to grow and grow leaving us with a number of around 12 to 16 attending our training sessions on a Sunday morning Also throughout the summer we trained on a tue evening. The girls began to grow into themselves and the confidence began to show We had great matches starting with Glanmire, Cobh etc, with Erins Own holding their own towards the end of the season we played Rockban at home which was a great game it proves that with training and confidence you can go long way Well done to all girls and a big thanks to all parents and all involved in the team .
Ladies junior team
It was the first time in a long time where Erins Own had a Ladies Junior team. The ladies started off well playing very tough matches and going all the way to the final playing Bandon unfortunately it was not their day, but nothing will hold these ladies back next year ,
-
U12s football: Again this year we had a good year we had some though matches but the girls fought and fought and with their skill and their dedication these girls are a force to be reckoned with reaching the County final and reaching the East Cork final against Inch Rovers .Well done to all girls and to all Coaches involved
Croke Park visit this year
U8football U8 ladies training every Sunday 11.45 to 12.45. As the year progressed the numbers increased and by autumn we had 28 players on our books. A focus on mandatory gum shields was pushed on early in the year and now it seems the message has got through. Pre training warm up was a very important part of our routine We had a great season, We a great bonus in Deirdre Cottrell who has helped us all year long and with the u14/16 girls helping out also, Niamh Wall also came on board and aims to continue next year with her help .Thanks to you all the parents for their commitment and support throughout the year.
