The Communications Committee (CC) is a council of second year graduate students that hosts events and programs, serves as a connection between students and administration, and manages the social voice of the department.

Project DetailsThe GradComD social media pages were dormant for over three months at the end of 2015.

• Hired in January 2016 to evolve and grow social media presence• Audited all channels to gauge purpose and voices • Developed and implemented an editorial calendar• Established a more approachable voice

SPECTRUM Campaign

The CC hosted an all-female panel discussion. The campaign included: printed posters, social graphics, Eventbrite, a Facebook event, Tweets for buzz, a unique hashtag, and connections with panelists. Utilized HootSuite to publish/manage.

A week before the event, I curated (female) student work and shared with followers. I then had the panel live tweeted using the hashtag #prattspectrum.

SPECTRUM celebrated women in design by showcasing them, empowering them, and having real conversations about women’s experiences working in the industry.

FREE SCHOOL Campaign

Free School is an annual event that is in its sixth year. The event is branded and is adapted each year to fit its theme. The campaign included a website, social graphics, posters, invitations, teacher feature tweets, and teaser/process videos. Switched to Buffer to publish/manage campaign.

Free School is taught by recent alumni of Pratt GradCommD and is open to the public. The event sold out in two days from its launch.

Role: Manage a Facebook group of 350+ Senior Events Committee

Audience: Graduating seniors

Project DetailsIona College undergraduate class of 2013 had no centralized way to receive information about senior class events and responsibilities.

• Developed this group as a way to easily and directly communicate with seniors in regards to events and yearbook information.

• Co-ran the group for 11 months with a fellow classmate/student-leader• Group remains active as a space for alumni of the class to connect and network
