Artist: Acrylics, colored pencils, oils.
Eric Walthers has retired from NMUSD after 32 years and his passion
for art has returned. Eric’s interest in art came at a very young age. Art runs in his
blood on his father’s side. Eric’s father taught and created art. His father and
grandfather were painters and sculptors. Although he has taken some art instruction,
he considers himself a self-taught artist. Some of my favorite artists are Salvador
Dali, M. C Escher, Rene Magritte, H.R. Giger, and Frank Frazetta. The art Eric
creates mostly covers the human struggle, the environmental plight, and all living
things that have no voice while using a science fiction, fantasy and surrealism
approach. Mediums he likes to work with are acrylics, colored pencils, pen, ink, and
oils. Eric’s art is created in his own mind then put to paper in a way that he can
make a point without using his voice. I set goals with each piece of art that I create
so as to cause one to think and stir curiosity. Eric shares “All of my art is unique and
original. If my art became a topic of conversation in your home then I would have
met my inspiring goal.”
