Class of 2020 Graduation Requirements
• Students will be part of North Carolina’s
FUTURE-READY CORE COURSE OF STUDY
• What does Future-Ready Core mean? – You will have a strong academic foundation.
– You will have more options when you graduate.

The Future-Ready Core Course Requirements
• English: 4 credits
English I, II, III, and IV
• Math: 4 credits
Math I, Math II, Math III, & 4th Higher Level Math
• Science: 3 credits
Earth/Env. Science, Biology, Physical Science or Chemistry
• Social Studies: 4 credits
World History, Civics/Economics, American History 1 and American History II

The Future-Ready Core Course Requirements
• Second Language
Not required to graduate but required for admission into any 4-year college/university
• Health & PE: 1 credit
Must pass Healthful Living
• Electives: 6 credits Students will have multiple
opportunities each year to take
electives from a wide variety of interest areas

• Taught at a faster pace
• Test strategies are different
• Extra projects are required
• Extra books may be read
• Extra GPA points given for honors classes
• Honors English, Honors Math II, Honors World History, and Honors Earth/Environmental Science
• It is recommended you have at least an 85 in your current subject class to register for any honors course.
• Your current teacher MUST sign your registration sheet to verify you can succeed in the honors course.

Attendance!—PAY ATTENTION!
• You can miss NO MORE than 5 DAYS in a class each semester in order to pass that class.
• There is no makeup time so the only way you can pass a class if you miss over five days is if you submit a waiver and it is approved.
• Bring a note from a parent/doctor if you out sick

Remember… • Students must turn in your registration sheet or your
courses will be chosen for you!
• Sign up for TWO alternate courses.
• Students will be placed in these courses only if your first choices cannot be fulfilled.
• Get teachers’ signature beside courses that require one.
